Download the 1.7.3beta in the standart minecraft-launcher and launch it. Select your texturepack and close minecraft. Open the MCPatcher and select 1.7.3 in the popupmenu and patch.
Beta 1.7.3 is not compatible with mcpatcher anymore.
Sorry did not want to read through almost 600 pages of this topic, but I run my minecraft folders in a different location then appdata is there a way for mcpatcher to account for this?

That's easy enough, create a batch file (anyname.bat) and put this line in it, adjust the mcpatcher name to the version you are using and the path to where you have your Minecraft installed).
I recently updated to 1.8, and downloaded the most recent version of mcpatcher, however I no longer see the option for better grass (where the grass blocks show grass on the sides of the block as well if there is grass 1 block down). I'm assuming it was simply moved, but i can't find it.
Oh that sucks. I actually found mcpatcher because of the better grass option way back when. I'm not super big in texture packs and mods so its other features are... meh to me. Once I upgraded to 1.8 all my hills suddenly became a disgusting brown blob.
So I am trying to "add" additional items by giving items different textures based on their damage values. I was directed to MCPatcher but I don't know how to use MCPatcher to do what I am trying because as far as I can tell MCPatcher is for fixing textures, specifically HD ones, and that isn't the problem I am having.

You can also give them different textures based on their name (just FYI)
Btw. keep the following in mind: because of the 3D models minecraft has right now you textures might look weird, when the new texture isn't the exact same size and shape as the original item texture.
So I used MCPatcher and it "patched" my minecraft making an additional version and profile which should the proper features, but I don't know because it appears to have corrupted all of my non-forge versions including the patched one. Now whenever I attempt to launch minecraft on one of these versions in crashes and gives this error message:

How about the option to add Better skies to the end? Would be awesome if we could texture that infinite space
Now The End is getting bigger in the Combat update (Minecraft 1.9) that would be a great idea, but why stop there, add it all the worlds like the Nether too.
It would look great with some flying boulders and strange clouds in the Nether and The End, the only downside is it will take some time for the mods to catch up with the latest versions.
Forge has always been installed to the libraries folder. The thing that changed is that it now uses a relatively new feature in the launcher: inherited versions. With this new feature, versions don't have to have their own jar. Liteloader's been doing this for a while now.
IMHO, I think the best solution is to not add Forge compatibility when patched, but instead add checks for it at runtime.
Also load it as a library. I look forward to the day when my repackager becomes obsolete.
The title for this says that it works for 1.8.7 but when I try to run the patcher it doesnt give me an option to run it for version 1.8.7. It doesnt go above 1.8.4. Anyone else having this problem? I cant play on my realm without 1.8.7

Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
I apologize if this has been brought up, but is there a way to have custom Banner colors? The vanilla hues really don't fit the pack I'm working on...
I did try to use the search function here, but I couldn't find any information.

Can I ask how to use mcpatcher with forge 1448 for mc 1.7.10?
1st you patch it, then you forge it
How do you forge a MCPatched jar file? If I remember correctly, Forge installer installs its own jar file.
EzerArch.com | Armourer's Workshop Skins | MCHeli Content Pack Addons | Resource Packs | YouTube | G+ | Twitter
Right.
I think, MCPatcher cannot detect forged jar file (like forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1355-1.7.10.jar),
because installation location of forge has been changed after version 1355+(?).
Before version 1355(?), forge is installed to .minecraft\versions, and I can apply mcpatcher to forged jar file.
But after 1355+(?), each forge is installed to .minecraft\libraries\net\minecraftforge\forge, and now I can't.
My question is, to be precise, how can I apply mcpatcher to installed forge which have own jar file in .minecraft\libraries\net\minecraftforge\forge ?
