Hey i am trying to install the jerdoku tex pack, i zipped the file and put it into the texture pack folder, i then ran the patcher but it is still greyed out, i have no other mods running, i feel like i missed a step
you misunderstand... make sure the files are added directly to the archive and not in a folder inside the zip
they are not in a folder inside the zip, the texture pack is just zipped and put in the texture pack folder, the folders inside(gui, misc, terrain) are all right, and worked like that in an older patcher.
can you post the pack so one of us can find the problem?

Yeah, like the patcher is going to maliciously deploy a texture pack to change the way your Minecraft looks!.
Oh, the horror. Good thing Norton is there to protect ya!
Seriously, when I used to do support for Microsoft, the phrase we used for Norton was "does not play nice with other children". Internet security that prevents you from using your computer for the things you want to do is not really "security" at all.
Don't get me wrong - it's good to be cautious, but the best protection against malware is simply using good judgment.

You shouldn't need to zip anything. Gerudoku may be out of date as far as the version (don't think Tom Bones is updating it still, but others are), but last I checked, it's still a zip file.

yes i got a version somebody updated and it downloaded as a folder, i then zipped the folder as i would with mcpatcher 1.1.2 and put it in texture pack folder and used 2.0 to patch

It doesn't mean anything if the pack is greyed out (unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by greyed out), it should still work, it's probably greyed out because the pack creator didn't add the 'pack.png' to the texture pack.

don't zip it in a folder...just zip the files or it won't work
As we have said so many times before - DON'T ZIP THE FOLDER.
Just zip the contents. Your folder is nested inside the .zip archive and that's why it won't run.

Ahhh gotcha. Then the problem is probably that it got zipped twice or something. You probably just have to zip up everything inside the first folder and it will work. Hard to explain i know, but...

Nah, just got back from a nice Easter dinner with the family. I'm cool. But ignorance and stupidity never rest. We must be ever vigilant, lest minecraftforum.net devlolves into 4chan.

I have a question as to how it handles the HD files:
lets say that in a texture pack terrain.png is 64x64 and there are mob skins at 16x. will the pack work fine or not?

It should. Certain files aren't resized

You know, Grugsy and I were talking about that this morning. We think it's all due to the fact that you need a license to drive or own a firearm, you have to register to vote... but anyone can have a kid or use the Internet.

yeah...they will work..just look really out of place. I would suggest using misa's mobs though...they are awesome (and for 64x+)
