the fix file association link is about as detailed as it gets...and you should always delete your bin folder when you update... not doing so can cause all kinds of errors with minecraft and the apps that mod it.
I'm making a 32x texture pack and just the terrain.png and some other files are 32, the rest are 16 (default)
With the other patcher it worked just fine but now it just shows up the same as default...

Yes but all the blocks are exactly the same as the default. Which is weird because I'm 100% sure the terrain.png in the zip file is NOT default.
One guy (can't remember name, but an answerer) said at first "are you using a zipped folder? You need to unzip it" - no offence but that doesn't help AT ALL, its only half the solution.
Actually, in these cases, it is the solution. Because if you unzip it, you'll have the folder you need, with the files within. You don't need to do anything else.
I'll say the same thing I did when I used to work tech support: "We're mechanics, we're not driving instructors." We can help you fix the program, but we're not here to teach people how to use their computers or operating systems.
Those of us offering help do so because we want people to enjoy the game and the benefits a texture pack brings to it. But we like to play, too. Between making his own texture pack and answering questions in this forum, I wonder how guys like Grugsy find time at all to play.

Hehe, precisely! My wife has the idea that I spend hours each day "playing" Minecraft. In reality, most of the time is helping around this forum, tweaking and testing the textures that I use when I play, and if I get an average of 30 minutes a day of actual play time, that's a lot.

i patch my minecraft so that i can get some HD textures working but when i do patch minecraft and i go to the mods and textures the default minecraft texture is changed, it isnt the default why is this?

I installed it to test myself...works fine patching first and then installing optimine(leaving out rf.class) although the mod drops my fps by quite a bit... does not improve it. helped before 1.5 but the new rendering method and optimine don't seem to get along to me.
i'm using full settings , eg: fancy, advanced GL , smooth , head bob , custom everything , hd font , and no problems so far except crashing out when changing texture (mainly if the texture pack as higher res than previous) but restarting the game sets texture pack correctly.

This patcher does not work at all on my computer. It runs, selects, and patches fine. However, GUI icons are messed up, and blocks are still 16x16.

It seems to be a problem with my computer, as it has found a way to work for everyone else.
I run at full settings too... oddly optimine made the noisiness on hd textures more noticeable and happen closer than before... I really wish notch would add mipmapping.

Curse PremiumYes but all the blocks are exactly the same as the default. Which is weird because I'm 100% sure the terrain.png in the zip file is NOT default.
Actually, in these cases, it is the solution. Because if you unzip it, you'll have the folder you need, with the files within. You don't need to do anything else.
I'll say the same thing I did when I used to work tech support: "We're mechanics, we're not driving instructors." We can help you fix the program, but we're not here to teach people how to use their computers or operating systems.
Those of us offering help do so because we want people to enjoy the game and the benefits a texture pack brings to it. But we like to play, too. Between making his own texture pack and answering questions in this forum, I wonder how guys like Grugsy find time at all to play.
