I’m trying to use this with Forge on 1.6.2. I have a working Forge profile for the standard launcher, but when I launch MCPatcher, that profile does not appear in the Game Version dropdown. Why would this be?

Do NOT install anything else that downloads. It's malware. If you installed that stuff by accident, get MalwareBytes ASAP to remove that crap from your system.
Every time I patch Minecraft I get a crash. I have Forge 9.10.0.804. The first few times I tried I checked all the mods except Forge (which does not appear in the mod list when I do NOT have Forge installed), and crashed without the game even starting. Then I only checked Random Mobs, Connected Textures, Custom Item Textures and Forge, and the game started, and then crashed when I entered a world.

I decided to do a clean install of minecraft last night because of some issues I was having. I reinstalled this morning, everything worked great. Added my fav texture pack back, looked good. Now. to run MCPatcher to get the custom textures going....NOPE!
I have tried every which way I can think of and MCPatcher will not apply anything. I have done the MCPatcher profile thing, that didn't reflect any changes. I tried it on my regular profile. Nope. I have had this issue with MCPatcher from day one and for the life of me swear it just randomly starts working when it feels like it. What am I doing wrong?
I'm running the newest MC and the newest MCPatcher. I get no errors at all. It just doesnt seem to be working at all. Not even when I do "Test Minecraft" from the MCPatcher screen.
Hey all. I've run into a problem that... I'm not quite sure how to fix.
I use MCPatcher to install mods and HD texture support, mostly for convenience, but I ran into a snafu where a mod I kept reinstalling wasn't updating to the new version I was patching in. Rather than spend an hour digging through the countless config files accumulated over several months of fiddling with numerous versions of mods, I just nuked my Minecraft folder and started fresh.
Installed Minecraft 162 from the Minecraft.exe launcher, then grabbed 152 (the version I mod) as well. Went to fire up MCPatcher 3.04_02... and it's saying it can't find the folder Minecraft's in, even though it's pointed correctly to /appdata/roaming/.minecraft.
Seems that the launcher didn't give me a /bin/ folder for MCPatcher to find. I'm able to launch either of the jars (1.6.2.jar and 1.5.2.jar, respectively) via Magic Launcher 1.1.7 and as far as I can tell, everything works normally. I made a world, ran around and punched a few chickens to death, and quit and still don't have a /bin/ folder.
I guess at some point, Mojang changed the file structure for Minecraft? I haven't really kept up with anything since 1.52, since the only mod I play isn't updated to 1.62. Should I use the 1.62-compatible MCPatcher, even though I'll be patching a Minecraft 1.52 jar? Or where should I point MCPatcher 3.04_02? I've tried pointing it to /versions/ and /versions/1.5.2/ and it still says it can't locate my Minecraft install.
EDIT: MCPatcher 4.2.1 recognizes my Minecraft install, but won't allow me to patch in any sort of HD effects (HD texture support, better grass, all that jazz) at all when told to use a 1.5.2 version, though it seems to patch in other mods just fine. Won't let me check any of the boxes for HD texture support at all.

Yes, this is exactly it. 1.6.x is when they introduced the new launcher, and the new way of tracking Minecraft installs. Kahr is working on updating MCPatcher for the older versions to work with the new launcher.

Argh.
Any idea if there's a possible work-around? MCPatcher 4 seems to load 1.52 jars just fine, but it won't let me apply any HD fixes.
Basically the only way is to use the old launcher and do things the way you did prior to the 1.6 update. That's basically it, unfortunately. I don't know enough about the .json files to tell you how to fake it with the new launcher either.

Ugh. Oh well, I'll get by with vanilla features until Khar's able to get everything up and running, then
someone help me i use mcpatcher alot for all my mods and when i do test minecraft eveything runs fine but when i actually run minecraft.... thats a whole nother story the mods DO NOT show up at all*note i use 4.1.1*

i type up how i would talk to my friends, if you find this rude, i'm sorry.
New update with support for older Minecraft versions using the new launcher. Use the direct links if the main ones are not up to date yet.
The first time you select an older version like 1.5.2 or 1.4.7 from the drop-down menu, MCPatcher will automatically download some necessary support files. From then on, you can add other mods and patch as normal.
There are definitely applications, but they may not be very usable. This would be most helpful for minigames and games where the game would appear to shut down after a certain point is hit on the scoreboard, or the colors of the map would change depending on the level. Lots of options, but also a lot of work.
That you cannot imagine a way to utilise a feature does not mean no one else can.
I can see how using the achievements can unlock "higher level" textures. E.g., having completed "Sniper Duel" might change the bow texture to something more impressive looking.
It works per player/world.
example1:
A player has killed 100 zombies and another hasn't. The player with more kills will see different zombies than the one without kills.
example2:
A player that killed the enderdragon will see other dragons after that.
example3:
Mapmakers can change blocks in minigames or special locations.
example4:
Blocks can change over the time if you mine more and more they look diffrent after some time.
example5:
By tracking the passed days we can add seasons
Wow didn't even think of that. Well those are great examples yal, but their is still a problem. How would MCPatcher track the achievements/scoreboard. I mean I know it's now per world, but still. There are no NBT tags on blocks or items that track achievements/scoreboard. So how would it work exactly?
I know you've probably gotten the new snapshot and are busy working on the next MCPatcher, but may I be so bold as to request a feature? Will you kindly make it so that sugar cane can have it's own biome color map? The one that Mojang added this snapshot ruins my sugar cane, and I'd love to have the ability to turn it off.
Thank you in advance! Also, don't stress too much about getting everything done. Trust us, we'll still be here when you've got it done to your satisfaction.
I think it would be awesome to have items that look different when the player is different levels...especially if it was player specific...like if a level 3 had a iron sword and a level 30 had an iron sword...then their swords looked different and both people could see both versions

Curse PremiumI would rather it look like a larger version of this
Mods I work on and maintain:
TabbyChat | Mine Little Pony
My Blog
Works completely fine when told to work on 1.6.2.

ModeratorArgh.
Any idea if there's a possible work-around? MCPatcher 4 seems to load 1.52 jars just fine, but it won't let me apply any HD fixes.

ModeratorUgh. Oh well, I'll get by with vanilla features until Khar's able to get everything up and running, then
Thanks for the help.
The first time you select an older version like 1.5.2 or 1.4.7 from the drop-down menu, MCPatcher will automatically download some necessary support files. From then on, you can add other mods and patch as normal.

Curse PremiumWow didn't even think of that. Well those are great examples yal, but their is still a problem. How would MCPatcher track the achievements/scoreboard. I mean I know it's now per world, but still. There are no NBT tags on blocks or items that track achievements/scoreboard. So how would it work exactly?

ModeratorI know you've probably gotten the new snapshot and are busy working on the next MCPatcher, but may I be so bold as to request a feature? Will you kindly make it so that sugar cane can have it's own biome color map? The one that Mojang added this snapshot ruins my sugar cane, and I'd love to have the ability to turn it off.
Thank you in advance!
