On a whim, I disabled Better Glass and Connected Textures to see if either of those were causing the Enhanced Portals/Artificers/Carpentry issues. No such luck.
I just tested that too. hhhmmm. (I didn't test the Carpentry mod) I'm having the same problem.
I'll look into Artifice too. Sorry I haven't had time to do anything(getting ready for my senior year in high school)so I'll try to look at it when I can.
What's the name of the resource pack???
u mean the faithful one or the other pack . the other pack is misa

From what I've observed, McPatcher makes italic text in at least the default font look all wobbly and odd. Is this something everybody knows about, or is it just me?

I believe that's actually an issue with vanilla Minecraft, not MCpatcher. The Minecraft devs did something with the fonts, I think bugfixing something (Can't completely remember) and because of it italics render all lumpy now.

Are you sure? Because I've tested it with and without a resource pack in my 1.6.2 McPatcher and vanilla 1.6.2 .jars, and the font was fine with the vanilla .jar.
Ok, I'll look more into now(or try to at least), but the problem MIGHT be because there are alot of entities around you. Item Frames, Paintings, dropped Items, Mods, Exp Orbs, & a few more stuff all count as entities, having alot of entities can cause lag. BUT I'll try to find the exact cause.

Ahh, you know what, you're right, my bad. I checked myself and my texture pack's font (pretty much the default font) rendered crisp and clean without MCpatcher. With it, though, blobtastic mess. Heck now that I look at it, it seems like the font doesn't properly italicize under MCPatcher, only parts of the letters get angled while other parts remain unaffected. Either way, though, I must've gotten so used to it I mistook it for a vanilla bug. :I
EDIT: With some poking in MCPatcher 4.2.1's options I found a fix for the blobby italicization. There's an option "use HD font sizing for non-HD fonts" in the Options tab of MCPatcher. Tick that, patch, and your fonts won't be blobby no mo.
INCORRECT! The new version of minecraft forge removes the coremods folder, so now everything goes into mods. This makes things easier to install.
It's in the change log for mcforge: http://www.minecraft...ic,10075.0.html
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot. I don't use Forge that much so I don't remember everything that comes out with Forge

Is it possible to create a side texture for Farmland? I tried creating a block60.properties file for tilled soil with "sides" as the texture option, but it didn't seem to help

It may not be possible since farmland is a non-standard block, being 1 px shorter than most blocks. You can post your config file here for other people to look at. It might just be that you missed something.
is ther a way I can make redstone (and overlay) conected with the ctm rule?
I don't believe so since it's a non-standard block. Even if there were, the visibility mask that's applied to the redstone would cancel most of it anyway, meaning you'd only see it on redstone that's surrounded on all four sides. Better to just plan around this if possible.
Mind you I'm not 100% sure on that, so it might be worth a try. Worst that can happen is it won't work and you've wasted some time.

I think, if I remember correctly that you make a side texture for Farmland. I think I saw it in a texture pack before, but I can't remember for sure.

In your ".minecraft" folder, there is a folder called "coremods", if it's not there make one, put the Damage Indicator mod there.
