I seem to be doing something wrong, since.. This doesn't work.
I'm using 1.5_01 compatible Texture Packs.
Everything patches properly, I get no errors.
But, when inside the game, the .zip files dragged to the texture pack folder, I try to switch between the packs.. Nothing happen. I have patched both before and after I "installed" the texture packs, yet nothing happens. It worked fine with the old patcher (for 1.4_01, that is), but it doesn't seem to want to work now.
If it helps, the pack icons are just grayed out version of the 'default icon'.
*It should also be noted that I have tried with an unzipped file (single folder, with all contents inside), tried unzipping all the content into the Texture Packs folder, and have a zipped file. At the same time. Still doesn't work.

if the pack is inside a folder in the zip it will NOT work. unzip the pack.. take everything inside from where the terrain.png is and re-zip it. the patcher reads what is directly inside the zip...if it finds a folder it stops reading it.

thanks... that finally got through to me and my pack is working again :biggrin.gif:. I felt like an idiot not knowing how to use my own pack :tongue.gif:. for you!
I've read down this page and watched a few people get annoyed with others asking the "same" question.
I read through the answers each time, and they seemed to tell me different things, but I eventually got it working.
How to do it, is to get your texture pack and make sure you have an UNZIPPED version. Now, go into the pack to the point where you have a load of folders and some files (one of the files is terrain.png)
Select them all, and right click and send to a zipped folder. Name the folder to whatever - THAT IS THE FOLDER YOU PUT IN!
One guy (can't remember name, but an answerer) said at first "are you using a zipped folder? You need to unzip it" - no offence but that doesn't help AT ALL, its only half the solution.
Maybe the original poster should put something like my little walkthrough in the original post, of it its there already make it bold because I couldn't see it.. and it was quite annoying having to dig through the posts to find a solution... it also stops every single person from posting a question about it :wink.gif:

Probably a stupid question, but since I can't find the answer anywhere, nor can I seem to get a quick answer on what seems to be a simple question, I'll ask here.
What's the probability that using this HD texture mod and such will significantly increase lag? :T
I'd love to use it, but I want to be sure beforehand that it's not likely to cause my lag issues to go from manageable to frustrating.
EDIT: I'm just going to load it up. If it causes problems, I'll ask how to remove it at a later time. /massively impatient
I downloaded this program, clicked patch, opened minecraft and tried to select a texture pack. the game then froze. i tried reopening but ever since it just crashes at the Mojang screen? WTF!!
I even just redownloaded minecraft and the game still crashes at the Mojang screen!! D: D:
I deleted all the texture packs in minecrafts "texture packs" folder and the game started! :biggrin.gif:
I installed XXX Mod after running the patcher and now the game crashes.
Try installing the mod before running the patcher. Yes, I realize I just suggested doing it the other way. Some mods work better before patching, others work better the other way.
I tried installing XXX Mod both before and after running the patcher and it didn't work.
If you tried installing both ways and it didn't work, then you're out of luck. You'll have to choose between HD textures and the other mod. Unless the source code for the mod is available, I probably won't be able to fix the incompatibility.
How would you install a pack before using the patcher? Or did I misread you?
This means you have a conflicting mod installed. MCPatcher is compatible with many mods, but some mods change the game's class files enough to confuse it. If it detects one of these situations, the patcher refuses to apply the patch instead of applying it and likely crashing later. If you hover the mouse over the greyed out item, it will describe what classes are conflicting. Try running the patcher first and then installing the other mod.
ok that helps..... kinda......

^ WHAT? what does that mean?
once again any help would be appreciated
Okey Dokie! So my problem was after starting a clean install of Minecraft and patching then running the nifty new patcher then selecting the texture pack i wanted to use would crash my game and not allow me to pass the logo screen till i cleaned again.
My problem was solved by simply installing the 64bit version of java (Duh...)
Yes I am using a 64bit OS.
Hope that helps someone out there with a similar problem :smile.gif:
Is there any chance this mod could be extended to load biome colors (glasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png) from texture packs? As far as I know, that's the only remaining texture-pack-related reason to put files in minecraft.jar.
So I'm a bit clueless. I'm trying to use Zedas RPG texture pack. I tried using the old patcher but the game would crash every time I placed/destroyed/created a block. So I decided to try this version of mcpatcher. However, since there's no texture packs tab, I'm a bit clueless as to how I need to install my texture pack...

Ah, great. That seemed to have worked, the pack was just packed in a mysterious way.
Thank you for your help :smile.gif:.

Followed the instructions everyone has posted to the letter. But Minecraft always goes into "Not gonna do jack
Forgot to mention, I'm trying to use Scuttle's 256 pack.
when i start up the patcher the HD textures box is "un-checkable" the HD font works but texture won't.
any ideas?
any help would be greatly appreciated
