I have a question about RandomMobs feature: Is it possible to assign a specific texture to specific mob (like you can change HP, equipment etc. in NBTtags for a specific mob) or does these textures work completely randomly and I have no way to predict which random texture will spawned mob have? For example I want to create 4 different zombie spawners, and have the first one spawn zombies always with zombie1.png texture, the second one with always zombie2.png etc.
There's no way to use NBT data to determine Random Mobs skins at the moment. Kahr said that he may someday look into it, though.
You can have skins based on the conditions of their spawning, however. There's biome-based skins, as well as height-based skins. From the way you worded that, I'm guessing that you're making a custom map. If that's the case, you can control the precise spawning conditions of the monsters to fit into specific combinations of biome and height to force the conditions for a specific skin.
How this height/biome requirements work? Is it possible to force these conditions, but still have the monster spawn in a specific location?
It's based on the exact coords where the monster spawns. For example, if you have one zombie skin keyed to only appear on zombies that spawn at Y=24 and in a Desert, any zombie that spawns under those exact conditions will have it. When making your map, you'll just have to make it so that only the zombies that you want to have spawn with that skin will spawn with those requirements. For example, making most of the map Extreme Hills... except for your mob spawning rooms.
It's a long way to go and requires a lot of map control for, in my opinion, very little payoff. You see, most people that play adventure maps will just use whatever pack they're comfortable with anway, so it's rare that anyone would notice your hard work here.
A better idea would be to have zombies spawn with different colors of dyed leather armor, or blocks on their heads. I've seen that done in a few maps, and it always seems to work well.
Will you please post MCPatcher's log so we can see what it's doing?

MCPatcher doesn't do anything for the default texture pack. In the current version, it's all just optional features for other packs. I think Better Grass works with default, but that's about it. To see any of MCPatcher's features in action, you'll need a pack that actually supports them.

I didn't see it in the update, but just to make sure I'm not mistaken, horses are still incompatible with Random Mobs, yes? I'm not pressuring or demanding it or anything, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it if it did happen ^.^

First, I'm still unable to replace the potion_overlay.png of a potion without replacing the entire image. Will you please fix this? Thanks in advance.
Second, I'm having a problem installing Forge with the new MCPatcher. I've followed the instructions, using the Universal download and not the installer and such, but when I click the + button it refuses let me select .jar files at all. (It stays on .zip with no option to change)

I've been having a problem with MCPatcher converting one of my 1.5 texture packs. The pack I'm converting is called Derivation, and it one of my favorite packs. When I converted it to a 1.6.2 resource pack, I was amazed by how well it worked. The only issue is that a few blocks have this very odd texture on them. During 1.5, MCPatcher changed the Glowstone block into a lamp type of block that flickered. Also, the nether portal and flowing water textures were different. Well, when I converted the pack to 1.6, the blocks flowing water, glowstone blocks, and portal blocks are textured very weird. They have a weird checkered pattern and it quite annoying. I just downloaded the new Patch for MCPatcher, and I tried that to see if it fixed it but it didn't. Please give me some feedback on what I can do to fix this, the texture pack was discontinued and they wont be making a 1.6.2 version for it.

Black and violet checkerboard?
MCPatcher will, occasionally, choke when it tries to convert an animation file. Basically, for animated blocks and items in the new 1.6, each animation file must be accompanied with a .mcmeta file. MCPatcher's converter seems to be kinda hit-and-miss with converting the old .txt files to the new .mcmeta format with no pattern I can discern.
Basically, you're going to have to update these files manually. Check this tutorial I wrote for information on how to write your own .mcmeta files.

You need to upload your pictures to another site (Imgur is heavily recommended) and put the picture's address between [img] tags to make them viewable on this forum.
- Text is not being displayed when I'm activating Fly mode in Zombe's Fly Mod
- Font spacing / kerning is still far too wide compared to pre 1.6.x releases
I would greatly appreciate seeing both of those corrected, because even if a specific choice was made about font changes, the end result, especially the kerning, is far from optimal.

This doesn't tell anyone anything. Does it not launch? Does it fail to patch? Is there an error message? What is it doing or not doing?
"Doesn't work" can mean a lot of things. Narrowing it down will help the problem get corrected much more quickly.
After clicking the patch button and waiting for theprogress bar to fill up, MCPatcher says that Minecraft has been patched, but when I go into Minecraft, nothing has changed. No random mobs, no connected textures, it's just like nothing happened.
I'm sorry if it annoys anyone that I replied to something that is 5 days old.

At this time, Forge & MCPatcher aren't supported. Forge breaks MCPatcher, & MCPatcher breaks Forge. BUT a fix is in the works currently

There are special instructions for installing Forge with MCPatcher. Do not use the Forge installer, but see the section "Installing Forge with MCPatcher" instead.
And you fixed the error in the new version? Or I'm the only one that get it?

I didn't see it in the update, but just to make sure I'm not mistaken, horses are still incompatible with Random Mobs, yes? I'm not pressuring or demanding it or anything, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it if it did happen ^.^

First, I'm still unable to replace the potion_overlay.png of a potion without replacing the entire image. Will you please fix this? Thanks in advance.
Second, I'm having a problem installing Forge with the new MCPatcher. I've followed the instructions, using the Universal download and not the installer and such, but when I click the + button it refuses let me select .jar files at all. (It stays on .zip with no option to change)
When I manually enter the file name, it gives me an error and directs me to this big huge log file: http://pastebin.com/8NepSPf1
I'm reasonably certain I'm following the instructions correctly. Any idea what's going on?
I've been having a problem with MCPatcher converting one of my 1.5 texture packs. The pack I'm converting is called Derivation, and it one of my favorite packs. When I converted it to a 1.6.2 resource pack, I was amazed by how well it worked. The only issue is that a few blocks have this very odd texture on them. During 1.5, MCPatcher changed the Glowstone block into a lamp type of block that flickered. Also, the nether portal and flowing water textures were different. Well, when I converted the pack to 1.6, the blocks flowing water, glowstone blocks, and portal blocks are textured very weird. They have a weird checkered pattern and it quite annoying. I just downloaded the new Patch for MCPatcher, and I tried that to see if it fixed it but it didn't. Please give me some feedback on what I can do to fix this, the texture pack was discontinued and they wont be making a 1.6.2 version for it.

ModeratorMCPatcher will, occasionally, choke when it tries to convert an animation file. Basically, for animated blocks and items in the new 1.6, each animation file must be accompanied with a .mcmeta file. MCPatcher's converter seems to be kinda hit-and-miss with converting the old .txt files to the new .mcmeta format with no pattern I can discern.
Basically, you're going to have to update these files manually. Check this tutorial I wrote for information on how to write your own .mcmeta files.

You need to upload your pictures to another site (Imgur is heavily recommended) and put the picture's address between [img] tags to make them viewable on this forum.
- Text is not being displayed when I'm activating Fly mode in Zombe's Fly Mod
- Font spacing / kerning is still far too wide compared to pre 1.6.x releases
I would greatly appreciate seeing both of those corrected, because even if a specific choice was made about font changes, the end result, especially the kerning, is far from optimal.

Curse PremiumAfter clicking the patch button and waiting for theprogress bar to fill up, MCPatcher says that Minecraft has been patched, but when I go into Minecraft, nothing has changed. No random mobs, no connected textures, it's just like nothing happened.
I'm sorry if it annoys anyone that I replied to something that is 5 days old.
