Hello Kahr!
Just a quick message to thank you for your ongoing support regarding Better than Wolves. I'm glad I can use all MCPatcher's features along with my favorite mod
Thanks!
I appear to have a small problem. I'm running the patched version of 1.6.2, and I'm positive I checked the "Connected Textures" box when I patched, but no CTM textures are showing up.
About CTM type stuff, a lot of that can be accessed with using the Data Values and Metadata. Like the Power Level of Redstone
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values#Redstone_Wire
(whole lot of info here that is relevant mostly just trying to figure out what the meta is used for)
Unfortunately just have to experiment a bit with it to get the idea of what to pull with it. Really CTM has a whole lot of potential that hasn't been fully utilized with but a few makers... but those who really been getting deep into it, like Grar, SycloneSJS and 13thMurder for a couple folks off the top of my head. WHEEEEWwwww! They pull some wicked stuff. B'dass.

This is a strange one...no matter the texture pack, I get the default texture for watermelon vines. (So I've noticed so far.) I didn't notice this with 1.6.1. Is this a bug, or something I messed up on?

Most texture packs don't have a custom melon vine texture. It's new in 1.6 and not everyone seems to be aware of it.
As a quick check, download my pack "Sanity", and see if your melon vies are different from the pumpkin vines. I guarantee I have a custom texture in there. If you're still seeing the default with my pack, then it might be a problem with MCPatcher.

So I'm having difficulties patching my versions of MineCraft.
I have two versions currently, 1.6.2 and 1.5.2. I patched 1.6.2 but alas I couldn't patch the mods to 1.5.2. So what's the deal? Does the new resource thing install mods to everything? Or what?
Also I'm having troubles understanding how to install Texture Packs now; do I convert them into Resource Packs now? Or no?

1.5.x and 1.6.x require different versions of MCPatcher. To patch mods into 1.5.2, use a version that's compatible with it.
Also I'm having troubles understanding how to install Texture Packs now; do I convert them into Resource Packs now? Or no?
It depends. Many texture packs (anything for 1.6 and above) are already Resource Packs. People just continue to call them Texture Packs to signify that they change the textures. You know, as opposed to the Resource Packs which just change sounds.
A texture pack that's still only for 1.5.x will require conversion to the Resource Pack. As with any user-end upgrade, be aware that there are elements that will be missing. The horse's jump bar being one of the most obvious.

That's the thing I tried downloading an MCP version that was for 1.5.2 but it won't recognize the 1.5.2 created by the launcher in the "appdata\roaming\.minecraft\versions\1.5.2\1.5.2.jar"
I need to install these mods and change the java heap to 2 GBs to put into a client for my server members.
I found how to fix my textures (Misa's) being odd again after updating to the 1.6.2 MCPatcher today, for some reason MCpatcher still tries to install into the 1.6.1 files in the "versions" folder in the "minecraft" folder, (.minecraft for PC).
Just remove the "1.6.1 MCPatcher" folder and the other 1.6.1 folder and rerun MCPatcher and it should be fine. I also use Rei's minimap and I couldn't get it to run until I noticed the log window on MCPatcher was installing into the 1.6.1 folder instead of the 1.6.2 folder. Everything is fine now.

The best solution would be to use the old launcher. The old version of MCPatcher won't create the new directories, the .json file, or any of the other stuff that goes with the new launcher.
1.6 represents a divide in how things are done in Minecraft. I recommend not trying to straddle the chasm.
That is... unless you really know what you're doing, at which point you can just manually create all of those files and folders yourself. It is possible, but again, you really need to know what you're doing.
