Hmm, the patcher patches just fine, I'm trying to use default animations with a custom 32x32 texture pack. It seems to work fine when using the Test Minecraft button, but when normally launching Minecraft it doesn't seem to work. This didn't happen before 1.5. Any ideas?
Make sure it IS set to "default" for all animations.... That's all that can really be done...
I have checked and rechecked many times. Like I said, it seems to work perfectly with the Test Minecraft button, but when normally launching Minecraft it doesn't seem to work. When normally launching Minecraft it seems to be "animated" but it's just take the texture from terrain.png and moves it.
For example, look at these two images. Top is from Test Minecraft, bottom is from regularly launching Minecraft.
I don't get it...
I open mcpatcher, everything works fine, all the correct boxes are selected. However, when I put the texture packs in the texturepack folder, nothing happens when I select them in-game. I have a mac btw.
Had the same problem. In case you haven't fixed it yet:
Unzip the folder. If it unzips as another folder with the texture packs name, or something like that, open that folder. Highlight everything inside, control+click and hit "Compress [x amount of items]". After that, give the newly created zip file (should be something like Archive.zip) the name of the texture pack, and put it inside the texture packs folder. Should work now.
When i run the file, it opens as a zip file, i used the jarfix but it didn't work. It shows folders instead of the .jar file. Any help please?
Try reinstalling Java. It sounds like you don't even have Java installed, but that's impossible because you can play minecraft... so, go and update your Java, I think. Before that, though, try using Right-Click --> Open With --> Java.

A patcher glitch... I suggest you PM either Kahr or Xau about it in order to make sure they notice, so they can have a go at fixing it for the next release of the patcher.

Have you tried the jarfix app linked in the original post?
Yes, I did. Twice, actually. The second after it didn't work the first time. It simply won't run.
Try updating/reinstalling Java. Sounds like some file associations and much more are also messed up.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a way to type the resolution that you want, as in the old version?
For example, I could type something in that wasn't already in the drop-down menu:
Will this be possible in the new version?
I'm only asking because I'm working on a texture pack that could probably only be used with the patcher, but has a different resolution to the standard ones.
It is not necessary. After patching, the game should automatically detect what resolution the texture pack is. however, I recommend it stays a power of 2 (16x, 32x, 64x etc) as the game will work better with these, and there will be glitches with texture packs of strange resolutions.
Dang, I got ninja'd!
[snip]
You underestimate this patcher. The texture pack in question is 11x11, and I've got no glitches to report so far :smile.gif:
It even resized the items.png for me. Of course, this automatic resizing looks rather quirky, but such is to be expected. The only real problem is water and lava, which aren't animated, but that's my fault.
Nice :biggrin.gif:. I was thinkign of trying a pack halfway between the 32x32 and 64x64... so, maybe 48x48. I should go make one. Definitely :biggrin.gif:
I downloaded the HD fix 2.0. I follow all the steps and I, successfully, am able to choose the texture pack I want from the menu in the minecraft game. But when I go to play the game the texture is still the same default one. Please help.
Kahr, will it be possible to patch the game so that I can use elements of different resolution?
For example:
My texture pack is 16px16p. I want to use 32p custom water and lava animations, but when I do, they get resized to 16p ingame. Is it possible to make the patcher make minecraft use 32p custom animations with a 16p pack?

Same thing here. Got everything patched, put my .zip 32x32 texture pack into the texturepacks folder, but when I play the game, default textures. And I'm on Windows 7 64 bit

The patcher does allow you to do that. I have some 128p textures with a 32p texture pack.

The settings for what type of animations to use are stored in a file called mcpatcher.properties in your minecraft folder. If it can't find the file it reverts to "Custom Animated" for everything but fire. The behaviour in your second screenshot sounds like what happens when Custom Animated water is selected without a custom_water_still.png/custom_water_flowing.png in the texture pack.
It's possible that the game launcher and the Test Minecraft button work differently enough that it can't find the file so it writes a new one somewhere else. What OS is this happening on? Are you using Minecraft Portable or anything similar to run the game from a different location from where it normally installs? Please search your system for any other files named mcpatcher.properties.

Everything is resized based on the size of terrain.png. The easiest way to do what you want is to rescale terrain.png by 2x and put it in your texture pack.
All of you unable to get Jarfix to work, please try these instructions to fix the .jar assocation manually. They appear to be written for XP, but Vista/7 should be similar. The key is that jar files should be opened with the command java -jar. The -jar flag is important, and if it's missing it explains the "cannot find mcpatcher-2/0/0-beta4/jar" type errors. If this works, I'll add it to the OP.
Anyone getting this error when patching,
java.io.IOException: could not open com/pclewis/mcpatcher/MCPatcherUtils.class for [email protected]
please try this version of the patcher and post or PM me your results. It adds more logging and tries another way to open this file and will hopefully help me figure out what is going on. It won't help with any other problems, so please download it only if you're getting the particular error above.
How come I can't select the high res texture support box? It's grayed out for me. I really want to use the Wind Waker pack, so any help would be appreciated.
Hey everyone. When I downloaded the beta4 version of the patcher it came up as a .zip folder not a .jar. The way I fixed it was I opened the .zip with WinRAR, went to the File menu, clicked "Save archive copy as", and saved it as mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta4.jar. The file then worked as intended.

Help support my Elephant suggestion here and here!
Hmm. There doesn't seem to be any documentation for texture pack makers anywhere around here... just the end users. How would I go about creating these custom_whatevers I'm hearing so much about?
I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't like being ignored.
I posted a question (Which probably got posted off of 2 pages instantly) about the patcher.
My problem is, when I patch minecraft, when I load up a 32x32 texture pack, my game isn't in 32x32. I'm doing exactly what the instructions say, but it's still 16x16. Also, inventory icons are completely messed up. Custom water and lava were not working either. I had customized my bed textures, but they were default.
Any help?
System specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
JRE6
I would LOVE it if I could get Mixcraft back. Minecraft looks slightly...bland without it. Perhaps it's because I'm just too used to the textures.
