I'm releasing another bugfix update to the beta MCPatcher. It should handle switching between old and new launcher better now, but I'm keeping the beta label because Mojang still has some big changes in store for the new launcher.
Among other fixes, this update will no longer complain that 1.5.2 is modded. I also improved compatibility with the newest Better Than Wolves mod.
Would it be possible for you to make wildcards for strings in CIT property files? I'm trying to make it so that all books that start with the word "Letter" (using 'nbt.display.Name=') changes the texture into a letter. However putting Letter* just makes that whole thing into a string.
I figured I should bring it to your attention that the latest version of MCPatcher appears to be incompatible with Minecraft 1.5.2. As soon as the Mojang screen appears, it stops responding, but leaves this crash log*. I'm not sure which download link is the latest, but I could only attempt the one further down the post, because the download at the top redirects to a post, but for moderators, the post you linked to is different. So if that is the correct download, could you add the download link to the top of the OP directly?
*Oops, I forgot to actually add the report.

Yupp. Same thing here. I'm getting same error report, running mod free, with only Sphax texture pack and only actually checked when I noticed my glass textures no longer connected.
Good to know it's not something I did wrong though, since this is apparently happening to everybody.

Just as IvoryTiger figured out, I found that the issue/conflict lies in the Extended HD Mod. So to get it going just unselect it and Minecraft will bootup just fine. Hopefully Kahr is working on a patch.
