Suprise suprise, the first 1.6 snapshot is out. The structure of the whole .minecraft folder changed, instead minecraft.jar there is a 13w16a.jar in the versions folder. Nice. You'll love it Kahr Let's hope MCPatcher doesn't need complete rewriting this time.
I think that was just to keep it apart/overwriting the default minecraft.jar. That launcher is still a Dev version, so they likly set it to install in a new place to test it out while not screwing over your game.
I have mcpatcher 3.0.3_01. I wanted connected textures so I enabled it and noticed, on grass blocks was giving me side grass which I hate. I've tried deleting the grass from the CTM folder of the texture pack i use still had the grass sides. How can I disable the better grass effect from connected textures?
EDIT: Just noticed within default texturepack better grass effect persists

To disable Better Grass:
With Minecraft closed, go into MCPatcher and click "unpatch." (This gives you a clean .jar)
Go into the "Options" tab, and under "Connected Textures," uncheck the grass block sides option.
Can someone do me a favor and post a default blank CIT properties file, I'm having trouble getting it to work. Also does anyone have a list of the item id's in the items.java from MCP for us with CIT? I am having the worst luck in finding it.
Kahr, could you make a version of MCPatcher that could be manually installed?
With the amount of Class file changes that this mod does a manual install, aka modified class files would be a really really bad idea for everyone. It would break compatiblity with virtually every mod.
Also technically mods made with modified vanilla class files are more or less illegal, see mojangs EULA.
The only real legal way to do a MC mod is via a patcher like this mod, and kahr as well as others like Daxnitro the developer of the GLSL mod have stated many times that they will not release modified class files, and to not ask for them to do it.
So on to why I'm actually posting...
So kahr or anyone else, I'm curious I've been playing around with the new CIT stuff and I've been able to get custom textures via naming the item like "exclaibur" or W/e very easily, Love this feature btw.
Now then I have tried the same method with blocks as you can name them as well, and for the life of me I cannot get this to work, does this work, is it simply not implemented yet?
Is there anyone that can shed light on this, I would love to have custom brick patterns and stuff for buildings this would basically give you infinite terrain blocks which would be so freaking awesome.
And theres the other. So many freaking builds for the same MC version and some builds don't work together and not everyone wants to update their mods several times a week to keep up. @.x
But fine, for what is it? the 5th time this patch? I'll update and redo my mods -again- to see if I can get CTM working again.. and see what forge mods break horridly when used together this time.
By the way, the latest is 657 now. So many freaking builds grrr.
I would be really nice if Khar and the forge team would come together and work with one another now. forge has finally correctly implemented some HD support, but when you use forge for hd support you loose custom colors and ctm and better skys.... Also with the advent of such things as magic launcher and MultiMC having MCpatcher as something I can just add to the coremods folder or having a version of MC patcher built into forge would be nice

Actually what would be really nice is that if mojang would stop saying "version x.x will have official mod support!"
Then two weeks later releasing an already existing mod in a half assed form as a "new feature" to totally distract away from the fact that they missed adding mod support AGAIN.
Mod support was supposed to be the MAIN feature of 1.1.... then 1.2.... then no wait it'll be 1.3,
Oh no It's going to be 1.4 for sure this time guys, oh wait here's a command block we'll get it in 1.5 for sure!
Oh wait no mod support.... here are these shiny horses! We promise it will be with 1.6.....
Then next patch they'll add parts of better than wolves or industrial craft, anything to distract from the delay of the API.
Sorry I'm done ranting now, but seriously it gets old for mod authors constantly having to worry about compatibility.
This is exactly why I stopped coding mods and started waiting for the offical API, but at this rate we are never going to get it.
I mean we've only been waiting for this thing for what almost 2 years now? By the time the mod api is out the game will be dead and no one will care anymore.
I've been out of town for the past week, but I'm back and have updated for the new snapshot and launcher. There are some significant changes to the MCPatcher internals, so I'm releasing this as a beta.
First make sure you have the latest 13w16a (Mojang ninja-updated it at least once) by running the dev launcher once. Then start MCPatcher and click the top Browse button and select .minecraft/versions/13w16a/13w16a.jar. From then on, you can switch between 1.5.1 and 13w16a in the Profiles menu like normal.
HD Font is now part of Extended HD. It can be disabled in the Options tab.
CIT is a now visible option, but it is not finalized. Feel free to play around with it, but remember that it is entirely subject to change.
