I am also getting a grass side block distortion. But it's different than the others. The gray part there should be the same color as the top of the block.
Is it still caused by the same issue you think?
Using Richasackboy's newest GeruDoku texture
ok i got a problem,
i download, open it, and it opens with winrar, ive tried to open it with java, but console flashes giveing me no time to read the error.
awesome to the person who made this patcher.. after the 1.5_1 update i had that crash problem.. i cant go back to standard 16x16 after being so submersed in my 256 world :smile.gif: but appears to be runnin fine now, maybe still a bit laggy but i'll accept lag over the game crashin' every time i did something... cheers community :smile.gif:
Hey I am having a problem.. I tried to run this patcher... and when I select my JAR it doesnt show up? and I can't click any buttons to patch it..
I'm Running windows vista.
hey so when i DLed the patcher it wouldnt let me check the 1st box what should i do?
It did the same thing for me, delete everything in your bin folder, update minecraft one time again and launch mcpatcher, this time it should work.
omg this FIXED EVERYTHING!!!! i loves you.... ive been up for like 27 hours trying to fix this and my texture pack is working now because of it you my friend are awesome
I really like the improvement so that we don't have to patch every time but bFor some reason it will not use custom water for x16 texture packs that have custom water but for ones with higher res, it does use the custom water.
Your instructions have confused me. If you could post a video on what to do that would be great! Im not sure if its cuz i have a OS X or what but it wont work. Thanks!
So i figured id give this a try, since you can select between regular texture packs and HD ones.
It patches good, when I hit the test button, I can jump between HD packs(with bad lag between loading them). It loads fine and everything works.
I go to the browser, load the game....Here is my issue.
If I have a HD pack loaded and I try to play in browser, it does a main load, then goes black. If i wait long enough I get a white screen.
If I have a defualt/ Non HD pack loaded (with the game patched) I can load and play fine.
Any Ideas?
Ive deleted my .minecraft folder and started fresh and it didnt help.
I would use the minecraft.exe. however after several minuets of playing, it crashes and when I load again all the blocks i mined are back, and I die because im in a wall.
I ran the patcher, I clicked patch, I put all my texture pack zips into the texturepack folder, ran minecraft by click "test minecraft" aaaand... only the 16x ones work. Choosing my Gerudoku pack make it default Minecraft.
It doesn't work for me... HD Textures button is greyed out so I cant click it and when I patch it, it doesn't work...?
A mod is conflicting or confusing the patcher. Try it with a clean Minecraft.jar.

Try using the jar version of the launcher (it works on Windows as well). Online version of Minecraft doesn't take well to mods of any kind.

Basically, run the patcher, click PATCH, place all your texture packs in the .minecraft/texturepacks folder and run the game. If either HD textures or HD fonts is grayed out, then you have a mod conflicting with the patcher.

i downloaded the patcher but it's still zip although i updated my java and did the Jarfix thingy . Seems like my pc doesnt want me to get a texture pack -.-

Restoring original minecraft.jar due to previous error
This happens whatever combinations for animations I select under "options". Usually, with the regular patcher, I get an error whenever I try to use the "custom textures" options (I use LB Photo realism x128). With the beta patcher, I can't seem to patch at all :sad.gif: Seems like such a neat application, and I want to use itttt :smile.gif:
A bump in the ummmppp. Noone cares about poor me
Nobody's really going through here answering everything, but I decided to because I'm nice. Now, your main problem is Zombe's Modpack. That has an extra class which the patcher identifies as a renderer class of some sort. Thus, it is not sure which class to patch - Minecraft's, or Zombe's. Try it with a clean minecraft.jar. You can install the modpack AFTER patching, and it will work fine.
TO THE OP:
I suspect that the inability to load the MCPatcherUtils.class MAY be the confusing of the patcher with Zombe's Modpack. I recommend installing Zombe's Modpack AFTER patching, seeing as it doesn't use any of the same classes; it just confuses the patcher with the classes it adds.

Am I doing something wrong? All I get is the source code...(I assume!) I *can* compile the source code (I assume) but isn't that a bit too much like hard work? (Sorry, British sense of irony at work...)
Any help would be very welcome!

If it's a .zip, rename the .zip to .jar and run it with Java.

Using Richasackboy's newest GeruDoku texture
Unzip the texture pack and have a look at the terrain.png. The normal "grass edge" tile should still have the grass on it. It should be a greenish color. If not, recolour the grass edge tile so that the grass bit is green, while leaving the dirt untouched. Also, the grass edge on its own should be grayscale - it's under one of the Ore Block textures (or it should be).

can I use this to install mods like Zans Minimap? If so, how do I do it?
No, you cannot. This is ONLY for patching the minecraft.jar for use with high-res textures and custom water/lava animations.

why does firefox try to install this as an addon?
No idea. Try right-click -> Save Link As.
ATTENTION:
Before running the patcher, I recommend you do NOT have Zombe's Modpack installed. This particular mod has a class file or two that confuse the patcher and makes it throw out random errors.
I have answered a massive lot of questions above, so please refer to those if you have a problem. I'm pretty sure they cover everything from texture packs to the patcher itself to Windows errors. If you can't find a n answer in this post, then ask. DO NOT POST BLINDLY. Honestly, it just irritates people. Thankyou.
I have to admit though, that I kinda miss the ability to install the patch from inside this program. Much easier than doing it from in the game, having to drag and drop files around, etc.
Still annoyed that the side dirt block problem in the game hasn't been patched though. :tongue.gif:
Patches Minecraft so that you can switch between texture packs of any size within the game. Updated version of xau's original patcher.
NOTE: The old patcher (1.1.12_02) seems to crash with 1.5_01. The current beta 2.0.0-beta4 does work with 1.5_01 however. The grass block sides are a texture pack issue, not a patcher issue. When texture pack authors have updated for 1.5_01, the problem should go away.
Instructions:
[*:146adub2] Download from here.
[*:146adub2] Double-click mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta4.jar. You should see this:
If you see a list of folders instead, try Jarfix (Windows only) to fix your Java installation.
[*:146adub2] Click Patch. You do not need to select a texture pack at this point.
[*:146adub2] Start the game.
[*:146adub2] Click Mods and Texture Packs.
[*:146adub2] Click Open Texture Packs folder. If nothing happens, just go to the texturepacks folder in .minecraft instead.
[*:146adub2] Copy all your texture packs into that folder.
[*:146adub2] Enjoy switching between texture packs without repatching the game!
Old patcher thread:
The old patcher crashes with 1.5_01 when placing a block. The crash happens in a class that the patcher does not touch, so I will probably not be able to figure out the cause until MCP is updated. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=46173
Known issues:
[*:146adub2] Occasionally unable to load /com/pclewis/mcpatcher/MCPatcherUtils.class, cause still unknown.
[*:146adub2] Achievements not saved when using the Test Minecraft button, for the same reason multiplayer doesn't work either. Use the game's launcher and log in if you care about achievements.
[*:146adub2] Sides of grass blocks messed up with 1.5_01. This is a texture pack issue, not a patcher issue.
[*:146adub2] Out of memory/GL errors with 256x packs on 32-bit OSes. Try raising or lowering the Java heap size under Options, otherwise there's not much that can be done.
[*:146adub2] Some have reported that the patcher downloads as a .zip instead of a .jar for them. Try a different browser or rename the extension back to .jar.
4/17 Beta4 update:
This will probably be the last beta version before the official release.
[*:146adub2] Restrict input/output files to *.jar only.
[*:146adub2] Detect if minecraft.jar contains duplicate zip entries.
[*:146adub2] If Minecraft is not installed in the default directory, the patcher will prompt for a location on startup. Select the folder containing bin, resources, etc.
[*:146adub2] Added command-line option -mcdir directory as another way to specify game's location.
[*:146adub2] NOTE: If you are using Minecraft Portable, you will need to start the game that way instead of using the Test Minecraft button.
[*:146adub2] Fix potential crash with title/mojang.png.
[*:146adub2] GUI option to specify Java heap size.
[*:146adub2] GUI option to turn off extra logging in game.
[*:146adub2] Various internal improvements.
4/2 Beta3 update:
[*:146adub2] Made custom water, lava, and fire from terrain.png work again, hopefully like the old patcher.
[*:146adub2] Added new options panel to enable and disable the custom animations. This isn't how I want the UI to look, but it will do for now. When you change any options, you do not need to repatch, but you do need to restart the game.
[*:146adub2] Fixed crash with certain texture packs: Basico.zip and Basico64.zip and possibly others.
[*:146adub2] Shot-in-the-dark workaround for the occasional "unable to load /font/default.png" error.
3/31 Beta2 update:
[*:146adub2] fix compatibility with GLSL shader mod (at least once it is updated for 1.4)
[*:146adub2] fix an issue with replacing files in minecraft.jar
[*:146adub2] increased logging to try to get to the bottom of some of the crashes people are having
[*:146adub2] log OS/JVM version at startup for easier troubleshooting
[*:146adub2] fix UI being greyed out if minecraft.jar is not present [*:146adub2] added option to force a larger GL buffer size, which may prevent some crashes until the proper fix can be found. In the .minecraft folder, open mcpatcher.properties and add the following line:
HDTexture.glBufferSize=0x100000
The default value is 0x10000. Try 0x100000 or larger and see if it helps.removed in beta3
Everytime i try and open it in java a little black box pops up for a quick second then goes away and nothing happens.
