for some reason this patcher makes my fire and lava turn a pinkish color after a short distance (see image). It does this with nether portals too, only it turns them green. It has done this with every texture pack I have installed (including default). Is anybody else having this same problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Yes you have to go into the options tab in MCPatcher and make sure Enable mipmaps is unchecked and patch your game again.
I have a problem with the better skies option in this mod. When I turn on better skies and use a texture pack that uses it, I get a weird black triangle that floats across my screen and ruins the effect. I only have better skies on, Optifine (installed with MCpatcher) handles all the rest.
because optifine and the patcher are not made to work together. while yes, it is posted that if you "must" use them together there is a "fix" by only installing parts of either mod.... but they still have conflicts that aren't fixable because they try to do the same thing with different methods. installing them both is not recommended, and unstable at best.
@beni: we can already alter the light by time of day. it's quite easy with the lightmap.png's. just extend the length and be wary of position when adding colors. torch light can be altered as well. you should look at the information for artists spoiler in the op.
I am having a HUGE problem.Whenever i Patch, and i open up minecraft, some textures have the "PLEASE USE THE HD PATCHER" message and i HAVE used the patcher.can SOMEONE help me out here?

Have you tried installing MC Patcher last? After all the mods and such?
I have a problem with the new patcher, any mods that didn't come with it don't work. I'm doing it the same way I did the old patcher (though that one was from 1.2.5).
I've tried to remove the "method", since I'm not entirely sure what it does. If someone can explain that too, then that would be helpful. Maybe I just can't read the post. I'm not sure.
I did add a ctm folder, and the picture is named myctm, although I am planning to rename it to something else later. I am positive I had installed MCpatcher correctly, I even tried unpatching and re-patching it. myctm.png is 512x512, just like my terrain.png, and the .properties file is named terrain198, for spruce wood planks. I quadruple checked to see if it was the right tile id number, and it was. I don't want to try the block id, since spruce wood planks have the semicolon in the the id, and you cannot type in semicolon as a file name.
I feel like I'm overlooking a simple thing. I'm not sure, but I hope someone can solve the problem.

You do realise the numbers after 'tiles=' in the properties file correspond to grids in the image png? For 'ctm' connectivity to work, you need to complete the textures in grids 8-11, 24-27, 40-43 and 56-59. Currently, they are empty and need to be configured exactly as the example in the linked download below for it to work properly.
See this to see where you are going wrong. Once you have completed the image png, your properties file should be edited to read like this:
One more update before the new year. Various bugfixes and performance improvements. The improved blending method is applied to the fireworks flash overlay as well.
There's a possible fix for this missing TexturePackAPI$ChangeHandler problem in 2.4.5_01. I can't reproduce it myself and you never replied to my PM, so I'm just guessing.
Is anastrophic filterering and antialiasing planned for future releases ?
Assuming Mojang doesn't implement these features in 1.5 themselves, yes. The new texture pack format will make these and a lot of other wishlist items much easier to implement.
I have a problem with the better skies option in this mod. When I turn on better skies and use a texture pack that uses it, I get a weird black triangle that floats across my screen and ruins the effect. I only have better skies on, Optifine (installed with MCpatcher) handles all the rest.
Usually problems with Better Skies are due to texture memory limits, but this sounds different. As far as I know Better Skies is still compatible with Optifine. Do you have the same problem without Optifine?
What exactly do you mean by "transparency options" my glass goes to main color or clear when making translucent glass.
Your texture pack needs to include a separate glass overlay texture for the transparency to work. See the "Information for Texture Pack Authors" section in the OP.
Everything you have looks fine. You can even leave out the method and tiles properties in your case since those are the default values. Here's a test I did using your texture:
The ctm folder contains terrain198.properties and myctm.png. terrain198.properties has only one line:

I tried what both of you guys suggested, and for some reason it still didn't work. I re-installed MCPatcher, and checked CTM and Better Glass, but no results. I'm in version 1.4.6, if that matters.
Honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. For Kahr, you said it worked. So that might mean I placed it in the wrong folder, or something. I'll give you guys a download for my unfinished pack, so some textures may be horrible. Probably another thing that may or may not be important, I don't use my pack as a .zip, instead, it's just a folder, since it's a bit easier to edit.
(Problem is fixed now, I deleted the download link)
Again, I realize some textures are horrible. That's only because I'm not done with this yet.
Hi Kahr, is there or will there be a random repeat method?
Kinda love the repeating stuff, but it would be awesome if it could be random as well.
There's nothing like that now, but it's something I could revisit for 1.5, which will greatly simplify the implementation of CTM. Should it be "repeat one of these random patterns" or "repeat a single pattern but choose each tile randomly"? In other words, if there's a 3x1 pattern, A B C, and three alternatives for each tile, 1 2 3, you could end up with
The firework light flash looks great now, but I found another small issue: When standing on a mountain and looking down at a firework explosion, parts of water surfaces disappear completely for a split of a second (it seems to be the light flash texture causing this problem) ...
I assume it does this with vanilla as well? If so, it's another manifestation of the "only one layer of transparency" limitation of the engine. Considering how hard it was to get Better Glass working I don't think I'll be fixing this.
Tested the compass too, custom compass still causes FPS drop and annoying screen stuttering.
I really don't know what would cause this. I get the same fps (over 300 using Misa's pack) with or without the compass. It's just a simple render-to-texture operation with two (three if there's an overlay) quads.
Try making a wall of item frames with compasses in them. Because of the way Mojang implemented item frames, the compass texture will be redrawn for each. Does the stuttering appear to get worse if there more of them visible? Are you forcing AA or anything like that in your video drivers? Just throwing out ideas because I'm really at a loss here.

The filename matching is case-sensitive, so it needs to be .properties not .Properties. I fixed that and got it to work.
I knew it was something simple! Thank you. I use windows vista, so it shows you the extension, but put it in all caps. There's no way I could've figured that out on my computer. Thanks again
Kahr, I love what you have doen with the parameters and options in the Connected Textures Mod, but I have a request for another field for the properties file. I was thinking that a biome field would work fantastically with the random method (or other methods) to make it so that the specified tile is only used on that block/ terrain in the biome chosen. For example, you could set it so that in jungle biomes, crafting tables look more like jungle wood than regular wood; another example could be that leaves in tiaga biomes are coated in snow. I hope that you like my idea and I would be thrilled to see it added into the patcher.
I have better luck if I just don't use Connected Textures.
I install Minecraft in the following order:
Minecraft Vanilla
- start up and configure options then exit
Mod Loader
- start up MC then exit to let things initialize, folders to be made, etc.
- Timber Mod
- Zombe Mod
MC Patcher
- MipMaps unchecked
- Connected Textures, Better Grass and Better Glass unchecked
- Copy Sphax 256x over to Textures folder
Start Minecraft, go into texture packs, select Sphax

Forgive me if this has been answered before, but the thread is 355 pages long and I may have missed it.
Say you have MC Patcher 2.4.5 already installed and you want to install the 2.4.5-01 update. Do you need to unpatch the 2.4.5 and then patch with the 2.4.5-01 version? Or can you just repatch over the top of 2.4.5 with the updated 2.4.5-01 version?
The first time you patch with MCPatcher it makes a backup of the unaltered minecraft.jar. This backup file is what will be used for all subsequent patches, so you always patch against a "Vanilla" Minecraft. (So, yes, "just repatch over the top of 2.4.5 with the updated 2.4.5-01 version".)
So basically, MC Patcher takes care of whatever needs to be done. All I have to do with a new version is execute it and click the PATCH button, right?
I've not encountered this issue...or else i'd help ya
