How exactly are you supposed to load another texture pack? It does not let me load anything unless it is a .jar file.
Put it in your Texturepacks folder in the .minecraft folder which is reached by pressing the windows button+R then typing %appdata% then clicking .minecraft.
Ok, so if you didn't know, they're changing the way Minecraft textures are arranged in 1.5, so instead of having a spritesheet (terrain.png), there will be individual files for each texture (grass.png, dirt.png, stone.png, etc). This will probably make the HD fix useless. I'll explain why, in case you can't guess.
Here is the terrain.png, at normal size.
Now, someone wants to make a 32x texture pack, so they resize it.
All well and good! But, if you test it out in game without a HD patcher, you will get fire and portal and stuff in weird places (but most people know that). This happens because it's trying to load the animated textures as if it's a 16x pack, look at this.
It shows where it's trying to load the 16x textures, in the top left. You can see where the lava, portal, and water are in the 16x bit, and they are on the same textures that get the messed up textures in game, the pumpkin, bricks, etc. That's what the HD fix is for.
If the files for each texture are all separate, there can't be an overlap of the 16x textures on 32x, so in theory, there should be no need for MCPatcher other than for animations, CTM and stuff.
I posted this in another thread about the change with the files and stuff, I thought I might as well post it here. I would like to say though, I'm just taking a guess that this will make HD fix useless, I think it will but we don't know until they make this change.
Well the HD Texture Fix may become useless, but that isn't the only feature of MC Patcher, you also have The HD Font (which i'm not sure if that will be affected by the new Texture Pack layout) and you have: Better Grass, Random Mobs, Custom Colors, Connected Textures, Better Skies, and Better Glass, and all the other features such as easy mod installation and the rest... So the change won't make MCPatcher obsolete, it'll just make it not "required" for HD Texture Packs...

Wisemen say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.
It's been ever since 1.3 that when ever I use MCpatcher it gives me blackscreen when I try to open minecraft. Any help please?
Have you tried using a fresh "Force Updated" jar file, one that hasn't been touched by MCPatcher yet? and make sure that you don't have it running when you use MCPatcher! Also be sure that you are using the most up to date mods and have them in the correct order! The Black Screen doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with MCPatcher, but merely the other mods you have installed along with it!

Howdy. I'm playing vMC 1.4.5 with the Isabella II 16x16 texture pack. After playing this combination for months I'm noticing a bug: Saplings and Mushrooms are displaying a strange "halo" when viewed from different angles and distances (It's much more noticeable in motion as it "strobes")
Example below.
HD Textures, HD Font, Better Grass, Custom Colors, Connected Textures, Better Skies, and Better Glass enabled.
IMPORTANT! MCPATCHER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MINECRAFT 1.4.6! (WINDOWS)
I deleted my .minecraft, launched minecraft, picked force update, downloaded the WINDOWS non adfly link and ran it. Patched it correctly, all I did was let it analyze, I changed no settings, and I clicked Patch. It patched, I launched minecraft, blackscreen. I retried this 3 times. Same issue. PLEASE FIX.

Hi. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet (forgive me if it has), but I've heard quite a few people wondering if an option could be added to the Custom Colors mod to allow custom durability bar colors. Would such a thing be possible?
Seeing as my texturepack is themed, this is one of things i'd like: Still trying to get custom sunsets, enchantment layers and now fireworks!
I keep getting a blackscreen upon startup after patching Minecraft with MCPatcher 2.4.4_01. I am using a fresh .jar of 1.4.6, and have even force updated. No mods, no texture packs, nothing. Every time I fail and get a blackscreen (which ruins my Minecraft.jar), I delete my Minecraft file and start with a fresh new one, which I force update.
I am not leaving Minecraft open while I patch, and I am not leaving the patcher jar open while I try to start up Minecraft.
I am on a Mac, and I used the download links under "All other platforms:"
Really confused here. What am I doing wrong? Also, please forgive my technological ineptitude. I'm kinda stupid.

I patched then It analyzed or patched whatever. Then I went to test minecraft. And it pull up minecraft said updating minecraft for a split 2 seconds and loaded right away. but never pulled up the main screen for minecraft. And still hasn't somebody plz help. I have a black screen
Not really sure how people are getting this to work with 1.4.6. If I had to give an answer I would say it's incompatible but clearly it isn't since some people can somehow get passed the black screen. I'm not new to installing texture packs and using the MCPatcher program that is required for almost every texture pack I've used so I would like to think I know what I'm doing. I've tried five times already with a fresh .jar since MCPatcher gives you an error if you don't, and have even tried with a modded .jar just to see if it made any difference but I still experience a black screen.
The patcher works with my computer. Only I can't figure out for the life of what's wrong. The sunlight and arrow fire doesn't work. Lava and water don't work. They all say "Use Latest MCPatcher." And the dirt has a portal symbol and two fire symbols on the side. Very unaesthetic. .:/ I've got all updated versions, and followed the directions. Nothing is helping.
EDIT: Think I solved those above problems. Now, I just see all of the tunnels in the distance through the ground and it's highly distracting. Sure there's an easy fix to that, but I haven't figured it out yet.
I do the installation of Minecraft and mods in the following order:
Install Minecraft Game and make a backup of the "minecraft.jar" file
- Run Minecraft, set options to my preference, exit Minecraft
Install ModLoader (copy all the .class files into the Jar via WinRAR and delete the META-INF folder)
- Run Minecraft so that ModLoader can make necessary folders, establish itself, exit Minecraft
Copy Timber mod Zip file into the now created MODS folder
- Run Minecraft, create world, confirm that the Timber mod works as expected (axe cutting down entire tree)
Make a "zombe" folder under MODS folder, copy all of the configuration .TXT files into that folder
Edit the "config.txt" file just copied over to remove hashtag in front of modFlyEnabled line and save file
Copy all the Zombe .class files into the "minecraft.jar" file via WinRAR
- Run Minecraft and test if FLY mod works in the previously created world
After doing all of that - it is only THEN when I install MC Patcher.
I run the 2-4-4-01 file and in the Options tab I disable MIPMAPS by unchecking the box
I do not select (uncheck) Better Grass, Connected Textures, Better Glass
I do select HD Textures, HD Font, Random Mobs, Custom Colors and Better Skies
I click the PATCH button
I then run Minecraft, open the previously created world, make sure it works, then exit
I copy the "Sphax PureBDCraft 256x MC14.zip" file into the "texturepacks" folder
I then run Minecraft again, and click the Texture Packs option from the main menu
I select the Sphax texture pack, wait until it takes, the press DONE and wait until it takes
Then I run Minecraft again and hopefully everything works and looks proper.
Tedious, yes, but that process works for me and seems stable and functional when followed.
Hope it helps someone. Good luck.

Well It won't help "use" the mod per se. It makes it easier to install the mod, so you don't have to personally put the .class files into the jar.

Curse PremiumMipmapping causes that. Try patching without it.
Its under options
