WTF!!!!! ok....so i install the mod Millenaire, which includes installing the newest Forge, which i'm sure everyone knows about. i start playing, for hours, nothings wrong....i decide i want to download Misa;s HD texture pack, to make the game look more realistic, i know i have to patch minecraft to get the HD texture to work, so i download the NEWEST Mcpatcher, i select my 1.4.5 minecraft.jar, and realize that all the options i normally have, HD textures, Better Grass, etc. that are normally selectable before patching, are dimmed, and wont let me click them....confused, i patch anyway, i open my minecraft, and it stops at the "Updateing Minecraft" screen....now i have to force update minecraft, and re-install all my mods....What the F*ck did the mcpatcher do to make my game to make it all-of-a-sudden act up and mess up??? i really need help, i want Millenaire, and Misa's texture pack....why wont it work when patched? and why dont i get to select the "mods" HD Texture, Better Grass, etc. in Mcpatcher? this has never happened before, and as far as i know, ive done it right, cuz ive done it countless times before...will someone PLEASE help me???? :C

I have minecraft 1.4.5 and every time I try to patch I just get a black screen when trying to play. I'm using a clean minecraft.jar and have deleted META-INF.
Can anyone help me out?
That happened to me, too. I disabled the BetterGlass option and it worked just fine after unpatching then repatching the game. No idea why; maybe it's because this laptop is a rather weak machine.
Well I was having the same problem. After reading your post, I tried disabling it as well. It actually worked. I don't get the black screen anymore. >_<
Hey Kahr, is there any particular reason why CTM doesn't support the crops (wheat, carrots, potatoes, nether warts)? I've been working on randomization for them and it seems they just don't work in-game. It'd really make large farms look amazing.
Custom compass needle
Override that vanilla red compass needle at last! There are three textures used in rendering the compass, but only one (/misc/compass_dial.png) is required.
(Optional) /misc/compass_base.png - If present, this will overrides the compass in items.png. This is mainly intended for backward compatibility. In case the player does not have custom compass support enabled, the compass in items.png can be something that looks good with the default red needle, without limiting your creativity with the custom compass needle.
(Required to use custom compass) /misc/compass_dial.png - The part of the compass that actually rotates.
(Optional) /misc/compass_overlay.png - Can be used to add a glass overlay on top of the compass.
The textures are rendered in the order above, and alpha transparency is supported. There is an optional file /misc/compass.properties (sample) to adjust the position of the compass needle relative to the base texture.
Mipmapping and LOD bias settings
A feature I started working on this a long time ago and finally got around to finishing. Mipmapping greatly improves the look of faraway objects with very high resolution packs. Can be adjusted or disabled in the Options tab.
Biome- and height-specific Random Mobs can now have weights so that certain skins are used more rarely than others. Useful for "Easter Egg"-type skins. The syntax is the same as with CTM method=random. See the sample mob.properties for examples.
here's what I get when trying to start up with all my mods going... only thing I have changed is re-installing with latest patcher. I also tried with just mcpatcher and forge, throwing a ton of errors starting up in cmd window. all texture related. (has been since 1.4.4) also, with forge installed the patcher is not skinning menus... and crashing on world start. (just forge, all mods disabled)

and just a gripe, but is there any way to speed up initial loading? no matter how much mem is allocated, patched MC throws a lot of overflow errors and takes a long time to get to the splash screen.
edit: 4th attempt, after updating to the latest forge build instead of the recommended, and changing install order around, it's working. initial loading has grown even slower though. world loading has as well.... any way I can tweak it to not overburden the memory on startup? (I have the same issue with optifine as well, it works no better/worse than your patcher imo when it comes to the way it handles loading textures)

Awesome! I've been using Mcpatcher for what feels like 2 years and I've never commented on this thread You do amazing work Kahr thank you! I incorporate almost all your features available In my packs I love that you added weights to the Biome/Height mobs, I look forward to utilizing it. Take it easy man.

I know you probably get a lot of questions, comments, and complaints, and I have used the search function to try to better understand this, but I am really, really new to mods and patchers and texture packs and whatever! Just consider me the newbiest of newbs...
I'm confused by McPatcher because it says that my .jar file is either already modded or out of date and to delete the file and redownload it. Well, where do I redownload it? I thought I could just take the modded items out of the file (I only use Too Many Items) but that broke it, and thankfully it was easily fixed. I downloaded the game again from the launcher (but it just takes you to the main website to download it), but it only plays from the files already there; I don't get a brand new shiny .jar file. I'd really like to use some nice textures but I just don't understand how I'm supposed to get a new .jar file!

You can try forcing an update by going to options on the log-in screen right when you start up minecraft when the options box pops up just hit force update and it will notify you that it "will force!" then hit "done" then log in as usual and it will force update for you. If that dosent work you can try deleting the whole bin folder in your minecraft directory (the client will redownload it automatically), be sure to back up important files be for you do this (i.e. playerdata, saves, texture packs) just as a pre-caution so u don't lose anything important. If those things dont work im not sure what to do, Hope I helped

Really nice additions! Thanks for adding in more customization options for Texture Packs. It's really appreciated.
Using the MCpatcher I get this issue with Lava and water that you can see in the picture. Lava has this pinkish hue that goes away when you get close to it and water has the same kind of effect where it is greenish from a distance and blue up close.
The issue happens as long as I have HD textures on and does not change no matter what I do. It is like this regardless of the texture pack or even if I use default.
I'm sure this issue has been pointed out before, but I tried searching a lot, though specific keywords for the issue didn't find anything relevant.
Hey.
It won't let me select any HD texture packs in the menu in Minecraft. It just freezes for two seconds, then selects the Default pack. Any ideas? Regular TPs work fine. I have a few mods installed with MCPatcher.
It seems that the mipmap functionality doesn't like ladders very much, if you look up a long enough ladder it actually looks worse than it would without the mipmapping.
Ok, so I downloaded the patcher and installed it but when I patched my game, the mojang screen just flickered and then got a blackscreen. What is going on?

and just a gripe, but is there any way to speed up initial loading? no matter how much mem is allocated, patched MC throws a lot of overflow errors and takes a long time to get to the splash screen.
edit: 4th attempt, after updating to the latest forge build instead of the recommended, and changing install order around, it's working. initial loading has grown even slower though. world loading has as well.... any way I can tweak it to not overburden the memory on startup? (I have the same issue with optifine as well, it works no better/worse than your patcher imo when it comes to the way it handles loading textures)
aaaand... can we make our own mipmaps?
Awesome! I've been using Mcpatcher for what feels like 2 years and I've never commented on this thread

The issue happens as long as I have HD textures on and does not change no matter what I do. It is like this regardless of the texture pack or even if I use default.
I'm sure this issue has been pointed out before, but I tried searching a lot, though specific keywords for the issue didn't find anything relevant.
It won't let me select any HD texture packs in the menu in Minecraft. It just freezes for two seconds, then selects the Default pack. Any ideas? Regular TPs work fine. I have a few mods installed with MCPatcher.
