Only problem I have: Mixcraft's GUI Item Icons are not HD, and my bed, when placed, is still red. Other than that, it works fine.
EDIT: Nope, it's worse. It ISN'T EVEN HD.
The patcher patches the game and prevents it from crashing like the original 1.1.12_02.exe patches does when you try to place any block or item,
BUT eventhough you select 'Custom Animated Water' and 'Custom Animated Lava' in the options of the beta (4) patcher, it won't patch Minecraft correctly and you will see the default water and lava textures.
They are animated indeed, but minecraft ignores the custom textures.
I can't manage to find a .jar file here. Every time I download it, it downloads as a .zip file. I have java and I did try the jarfix thingy mentioned in the OP.

Works great for me, ubuntu machine. Thanks for the patcher! So much easier to use now that I don't need to constantly patch per pack, I like testing packs out. XD
Hey, I seem to be having a problem. Originally I thought it was to do with the texture pack I was trying to use (LB Photo Realism x128), but when I posted the error I got with the debug.bat file that was posted in the topic, they suggested I come here.
First here's the error in question:
C:\Users\James\Downloads>java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft
.LauncherFrame
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/minecraft/Launche

Could not find the main class: net.minecraft.LauncherFrame. Program will exit.
Now to the problem. The beta patcher works great, brilliantly, the textures are there, lava and water are perfect etc etc. But when I try to play the game from the launcher (I've tried to replicate this error numerous times with the "Test Minecraft" button but to no avail, which is why I thought it was something to do with the texture pack initially), the game will crash to desktop with no error, or just freeze, if I try to open my inventory, or access a chest, or pretty much anything that has it's own dialog. It wont happen all the time, though. If I try to access it after just entering the world, it will work (same going for everything else I try to access), but if I leave it for a while, or it has been a while since my last access of the inventory it will crash again.
I've tried unpatching then using the other patcher, which works, but if I try to craft anything (say wood into planks), then it will crash, every time. I really have no idea why its doing this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
The beta4 patcher works flawlessly afterall if you remember to place the custom texture pack into the 'texturepacks' folder in your .minecraft folder.
The old method of directly inserting the texturepack into the minecraft.jar file results in no custom water and lava being displayed.
1.5_01 works fine WITH custom water and custom lava when using beta4 patcher. Just use the 'texturepacks' folder method of installing your texture pack instead of the old method of inserting into minecraft.jar.
Will the creators of the MCPatcher help me in understanding why, when I click Test Minecraft through your application the program comes up fine. However when I attempt to run the provided Minecraft.exe from their website, it will not even open-- bogs my system down and I have to end task javaw.exe.
It is peculiar, and I think it is something in your programming to launch the application that allows it to run properly. The only niche is, I can not play Multiplayer when I Test Minecraft.
1.1.12_02 and the current beta 2.0.0-beta4) continue to work with 1.5_01.
Anyone else having problems patching 1.1.12_02 onto 1.5_0.1? Everytime i patch with the texture pack (x16) (which worked all the way upto 1.5) it works fine and runs, but when i go to place a block. minecraft crashes. it doesnt happen with the default texture pack, and i have no other mods running, so it must be down to the patcher? any ideas (i've tried clean installing)
That's cause you're using the old patcher version. It does not work anymore with the newest MC build.
Download the beta v2.0.0-beta4 patcher from post #1 of this thread and drop your Texture Pack into your .minecraft\texturepacks\ folder, instead of inserting the texture pack directly into minecraft.jar, like we had to to in the old days (and still could do up until now).
The old 1.1.12_02 still works, but only if you do not insert the custom water and custom lava files into minecraft.jar. The bare texturepack does load without problems.
So if you want custom water and lava and do not want the rightclick crash that results from using the old patcher with those custom files, you need to use the beta4 v2 patcher instead.
And why wouldn't you? It works without hassle and makes installing your texturepack easier as well.

Please, your help would not be vain.
Even someone with knowledge attaining to this would be a miracle.
you only have to click patch..it selects everything for you

Are you getting the message, when you start up, that you need a clean .jar?
If so, that's your problem. Re-download a fresh .jar and try again. You have to do the mcpatcher before you add mods.
No, I've never used any mods with Minecraft and just got 1.5. I really don't understand why my computer isn't openning .jar files.
try the jar fix posted on the op
I have. It just reverts it so windows asks me for a program again.
Hey, discovered this after the old patcher kept crashing my minecraft. AWESOME! Worked perfectly the first time
I used it. It's great being able to switch packs without repatching! Now I don't have to repatch every time my favorite texture pack puts out a new update. Just drop in the texturepack folder and get rid of the old one.
I used the mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta4.jar and it seems to work fine here.
No errors when I ran minecraft and water was animated.

Never mind. Got it working now.

Edit: as soon as i made this post it worked :sleep.gif:
