I think for those who are having trouble with the new mcpatcher I wouldnt download it. I would wait until they get the bugs are fixed. Until then, use the basic texture
You are using Minecraft 1.4.2, MCPatcher 2.4.3_02 and a Minecraft 1.4.2 compatible texture pack ? You might give Misa's Texturepack http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/69354- a chance.
Im having trouble with MCpatcher, trying to install forge. Every time I try it gives me an error and shuts down.
Here is the error log, I have no idea what any of it means. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated
Why on earth did you go to the trouble of removing the <spoiler> </spoiler? bits from the beginning and the end? They are there for a reason, so we don't have to scroll past all that (and people who want to can still expand it and look)
Ok, you wanna have skins 1-5 spawning in cold biomes and skins 1-4 spawning in all other biomes ?
You defined the following:
skins1-5 should spawn in Taiga FrozenOcean FrozenRiver IcePlains IceMountains TaigaHills
skins1-4 should spawn in [???] nowhere ???
This is contradicting itself ...
The sample mob.properties says the last 'skins.<n>' rules if nothing else matches, in my case skins 1-4. I tried your suggestion, the result is no Randomobs, only spawns the first skin. Thanks, but doesn't work.
First: It doesn't work in what biomes ???
I just tried exactly the same thing on my side and it works perfect with the code I posted above:
As you can see, there are white Creepers (skin 5) in the Taiga biome (anlong with skins 1-4), but not in the Beach and Ocean biomes (only skins 1-4). And there are everywhere random skins. You should check your properties file again, maybe you made a typo or something like that ...
Your code (copy/paste) doesn't work anywhere in my world, only spawns my first skin (green) at all biomes. My code spawns only 1-4.
Ever heard of spoilers ?
You better use them to hide such extreeeeeeemly long error logs. Besides, Kahr already posted something like "The problem with Forge is already fixed for the next release" just 5 posts above yours !
I dont know how. Ive never used them before. Sorry
I'm having a strange issue with random blocks appearing with visual glitches.
Some are half-see-through.
Some are miscolored.
Some have random distortions or 'spikes' that stick out of them.
They don't always appear in the same place. Leaving and re-entering the world sometimes resolves.
I had this problem with 1.3.2 as well, but not before (that I recall).
It probably happens at least once every 5-10 minutes of moving around a world...
Don't know what's wrong on your side. Try checking all file names in the mob folder, there should be:
creeper.png (green skin)
creeper2.png (green skin)
creeper3.png (green skin)
creeper4.png (green skin)
creeper5.png (white skin)
creeper.properties
The properties file should contain exactly this code:
You saw my screenshot, I tried exactly the same and it works fine for me. The problem is somewhere on your side. Does the RandomMobs mod actually work on your Minecraft installation ? (maybe you forgot to check it when patching). Are you using the newest patcher version ?
Try to clean your minecraft.jar and patch it again. Then, test if some basic RandomMobs stuff works (e.g. add a blue, a green and a red Creeper skin). If this works, then add the properties file to the mob folder and try the code again with your green/white skins.
As I said before, all my random textures work ok, only the biome-specific doesn't. Thanks for your help, I'll try something else.
Ok, maybe I found your problem. If you start the game and load a world the first time, Creeper always show skin 1. Only new spawned Creepers show biome-specific skins. If you go back to the main menu and load the world again, it works fine. This seems to be a bug of MCPatcher ...
No, doesn't work either. I really thank you for your effort, but I'll wait for a future MCPatcher and start again. Thank you very much.
the items i hold in my hand are messed up as if i tried applying the texture pack through the built in minecraft system when you apply a texture larger than 16x16. My tools and items appear to be hollow with space between the edge and side textures. Im not quite sure how to explain it. Im trying to use the latest faithful 32.
Edit: NVM i ran MCpatcher as admin and it worked right this time. Never had to do that before.
Just tip "[ spoiler ] insert text here [ /spoiler ]" (without spaces)
Awesome, thanks!
I had read the post that said The problem with Forge is already fixed for the next release, but I thought that THIS release was the fixed version. So basically I just have to wait till they release the next version of MCpatcher? I didnt know if it was a problem with MCpatcher, or forge. Thanks for answering my question
As an update to the problems I was having earlier with fonts being distorted, I'm still having issues with the fonts being distorted by mcpatcher and I now have an update for how I'm currently dealing with it: I had previously thought that deselecting custom colors would fix the problem, but I was wrong. As it seems to be now, every time Minecraft starts up the fonts are distorted; the only way I've found to deal with it is to swap the texture pack back to default, restart minecraft, after which the fonts are back to normal and I can then reactivate my texture pack. I can then play fine from there, but if I exit minecraft at some point and then restart it again the fonts will be screwed up again and then I have to repeat the above steps to fix it.
I'm also very sure that the texture pack is NOT the problem here; I use the JohnSmith texture pack and it's worked perfectly for a long time. It's only this most recent update of mcpatcher that has caused all these weird glitches, so I'm certain the problem lies in a bug in mcpatcher.
I seem to be stuck in some sort of endless loop. I am using the 2.4.3_02 MCPatcher Version, which as far as I can tell is the latest version, and an up-to-date version of Dokucraft. I force update Minecraft to get it to 1.4.2 and then the texturepack doesn't work correctly because I haven't used the patcher (ie. messed-up water and compass etc.). However, when I use the patcher, my Minecraft version re-sets to 1.3.2. This loop keeps happening and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help/advice would be wonderful.
For some reason, I can't select the "HD Textures" option or the "Custom Colors" option. When I hover over it, it says:
HD Textures cannot be applied:
RenderEngine: no classes matched (best match: azc.class, 2 signatures)
TextureFX: no match found for method bindImage
Minecraft: no match found for field renderEngine
TexturePackBase: no match found for method open TexturePackFile1
I downloaded this and when I open Minecraft, after signing in, the game goes black. Nothing, just black. I can't even get to the title screen. it won't let me play the game. So uh, how do I fix this?

I have also had this happen to me multiple times. I've also read earlier in the topic that patching without Better Skies helps resolve some problems. Try it and see what happens. I am getting patched back to Minecraft Version 1.3.2, which is weird, but at least it's no longer that black screen of doom.

Switch off Better Skies or get a better graphics card.
