Patcher is updated for 1.3. Download links are in the OP. There is also partial support for CTM on sideways log blocks, but it's still a work in progress.
EDIT: Whoops! I was in a hurry and broke CTM method=vertical. I'll fix it soon.
Kahr, I've been trying desperately (and I guess pointlessly) to figure out whether or not I NEED MCPatcher or not, and if so, how to get it to work... I've searched high and low, and on the Forge forums, but can't seem to find an answer.
Recently I realized that Forge supports HD texture packs, and started trying out a few. Sphax's PureBDCraft (at 64x64) is one of my favorites, along with Faithful. The issue I noticed, however, is that water and lava are basically the original textures multi-tiled to fit the resolution of the other textures, whereas Sphax has a very nice lava texture, that I want to see working. Now, something tells me this is a common issue, but I'm trying to get a grip on what I'm supposed to do to fix it. The first thing I figured to do was try MCPatcher and apply the HD textures fix. But that immediately is causing crashing issues when used along side Forge 3.3.8.164 & NEI 1.3 (and all the other mods that I have residing outside of the jar file). Here's the crash error I'm getting.

The use of this is irrelevant in Tekkit, as it already incorporates Optifine, which utilizes all of these features and more, optimized for Tekkit. If you are referring to the mod installation feature, regrettably no, not that I know of. Consult manual installation methods if necessary.

Forge API is not a substitute for an HD patch. You require MCPatcher or Optifine. (Depending on current support status, the choice is yours.)
Forge API is not a substitute for an HD patch. You require MCPatcher or Optifine. (Depending on current support status, the choice is yours.)
I am aware that Forge isn't a substitute, but the question comes down to using MCPatcher. I don't quite like Optifine, too many options, I don't like tinkering with my Minecraft visuals, they look great as-is, and the game runs just how I want it to. I've tried it before, and have had issues with it causing my laptop to overheat. (EDIT: And, I had a lot of problems with the world "disappearing" and "flickering" when using Optifine.) Also, I am responsible for managing 3 additional Minecraft clients on my desktop for my roommates, since they aren't technically inclined, and I know that would add an extra level of aggravation each time I go to update all of the clients simultaneously. For right now, my personal Dropbox has been a blessing, but since the desktop is a bit more powerful than my laptop, it would be another platform for me to spend extra time supporting. That also doesn't account for 2-3 friends outside of my house that connect to my server and have no way to have me directly support the addition of Optifine. I typically have them tap into my Dropbox to get updates to the mods we use.
That said, I would prefer MCPatcher since it seems very simple to work with, but where would I be going wrong with the install? I'm selecting only HD Fonts & HD Textures. The other mods in use are pretty standard: BuildCraft 2.x, RedPower2, EE2, Forestry, IC2, PowerConverters, Additional Buildcraft Objects, Additional Pipes, NEI & plugins, WR-CBE, ComputerCraft, EnderStorage, IC2 Nuclear Control, and ChickenChunks. None of these seem to have direct issues that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm merely an enthusiast with limited knowledge of coding Minecraft Mods. I think I recall discussion once before about mod liquids such as oil being the primary issue with MCPatcher, but I can't find those posts, but at the same time see "Compatibility with Forge" in recent updates of MCPatcher. So I'm not sure which case I should be taking with a grain of salt here.
Excluding Optifine, what would be my next course of action with MCPatcher? Or do I just give up and revert back to not using texture packs, or accepting them as-is? I know that texture packs have been begged of me from my roommates, and they've fallen in love with them, but I'm already getting asked why some items are simply a "pink square", or why the water and lava look "weird".
Umm.. Mcpatcher isnt analizing my minecraft.jar file. did i do something wrong?
Ive tried "browse" and that didnt work (i would click browse, click minecraft-1.2.5.jar, click OK and it would take me to my log and it would say....well .... .... i dont know how to post my log) and yes im VERY new to all of this.
Hmm, something seems to be wrong with vertical CTM now...Seems to be a problem with MCPatcher itself, as I tried 2.4.1 on an MC 1.2.5 jar, and it's still doing it.
@_zombiehunter : I think it's safe to say, we all want semi-transparent glass...lol stained glass windows via ctm.... makes me miss fancypack.... (or at least the original colored glass mod)
When I try to download, it all works fine (I clicked Save As, then Save), until it says "running security scan", then it says "Mcpatcher 2.4.1 is not commonly downloaded and may harm your computer" in a red box. Below that, it has three buttons: "Delete" "Actions" and View Downloads". It does not say what it should say: "The Mcpatcher 2.4.1 download has completed." What should I click?
P.S. Is there any way to use Optifine and Mcpatcher?

Try to close the window or something, or click view downloads. It alarms you because your anti virus program detects mc patcher as a virus or something though it actually isn't (Don't know why Norton even deletes the file without asking me... ).
You can set up mc patcher to install Optifine as a mod, but you'll have to disable the hd textures and hd font options in mc patcher. This is pretty useless though, because they're both doing the same thing, so I think it's easier to install Optifine directly and even more easier to use mc patcher
I've been working on the CTM bugs in the last release. I'm not sure I have everything right yet, so here's 2.4.1_01-beta1 to try out. Please give it a whirl and report any problems here. I'll make a proper release sometime tomorrow if all goes well. See this post.
Oh, and for those asking for translucent glass. I wrote a Better Glass mod a long time ago, but it had some problems and I never considered it official. It's hidden by default. Start the patcher with the command line option "-experimental" to play around with it.
1) Is there any chance to have a kind of "Better Glass" mod implemented to MCPatcher in the future? Glass blocks still look very unrealistic in-game, would be nice to see ALL 6 edges of the block and have semi-transparent glass textures (e.g. to make dirty glass textures).
2) Any chance to have biome-specific mob skins in the future? Think of sand-colored Creepers in deserts, white Creepers in cold biomes, green Creepers in forests, ... this would be soooo awesome !
3.) Pleeeease add support for connected glass panes to the next update !
For the first one, I would have to disagree. I quite like the glass how it is, having two or more sides rendered would make it very dificult to look out the windows or skylight (that is after all what they are typically used for).
For the second suggestion, I have actually played around with this idea with my texture pack and surprisingly, camoed creepers work very well (scarry as hell in hardcore mode). As of right now it is sort of a luck of the draw sort of thing, but I support this idea for the patcher.
For the finnal suggestion... Stained glass FTW!
---------------------------------------
Now for one of my own thoughts, I would love it if the CTM feature allowed for vertical and horizontal support simultainously. I am trying to make tree textures that will stack horizontaly and vertiacaly for a more realistice tree (similar to misa's jungle tree texture but it is 16 blocks high instead of 1). Any thoughts on this?

Curse PremiumKahr You are the man!
Works with 1.3 pre-release beautifully... I again get to bask in the beauty that is PureBDCraft 256x @130 fps...
Everything seems to be working properly now, I can enjoy my textures!
Wait, half of them don't have the 1.3 stuff! NoOoOoO!!

Also, to Kahr: There is an error in the current MCPatcher for the Prerelease involving CTM.
Connected cross-texture blocks do not render correctly as demonstrated here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14403620/Game%20screenshots/2012-07-26_22.21.10.png

Curse PremiumA couple things though, did you add in automatic kerning? Because 1.2.5 needs default.properties and 1.3 doesn't:
1.2.5 with default.properties (normal)
1.3 with default.properties (it's worse)
1.3 WITHOUT default.properties (Now it's better!?!)
