edit: and I fell dumb for not noticing it before... the snooper program in the snapshots looks at what texture pack you use and what resolution it is. gathering real data about how many people use hd textures maybe? is there any documentation about this that I missed?
I haven't seen anything. But with the popularity of Doku, John Smith, Sphax and others, I am sure it is a very large percentage.
After playing with HD texture packs, I sadly can never go back to vanilla. So I'm gonna have to wait for MCPatcher to be updated for the pre-release until I start playing again.
My refresh key might get a hammering soon waiting for an update
I'm off to look for a 16x texture to use for now. I am with you, I can't play with vanilla.

After all the snapshots, I didn't think 1.3 would pose a problem, but I guess Mojang changed something at the last second. It doesn't look like a big change though, so I hope to have an update ready this evening. There's also something in there to make CTM work better with the new sideways logs.

Its good to know that you are actually reading the thread and listening to our problems, thanks man!
I probably should have checked this was updated before rushing into grabbing the pre-release jar. >.< No HD textures for me for the moment. Good to hear That'll be fixed and it's not something on my end. The only one that isn't working is HD textures.
Is it possible that the change "Fixed piston block animation bug" in 12w30c would be affected by MCPatcher? I am not exactly sure to which animation bug Jens referred, but I was still seeing extended sticky pistons looking like they were retracted in an MCPatched 12w30c (using BDcraft 128px).

Maybe they'll be using the info to trend and keep popular texture packs on the curse servers?
nah... curse has nothing to do with it. (I host on curse... curse doesn't even have anything to do with that.. it's all bukkitdev) I'm thinking it's more of an accurate way to see how many people use hd textures to influence whether or not to add hd support to minecraft officially.

Might I suggest Painterly Pack? It's very well done, and extremely customizable.

Curse PremiumThanks for the tip, am using it right now, and enjoying it. Even enjoyed the customizing process. Has "biomes of Canada" as an option...SWEET....

Sure thing...I love it. IIRC it's been my go to texture pack since some point during Alpha.
Maybe they'll be using the info to trend and keep popular texture packs on the curse servers?
Just a thought.
