My process is: move the texture pack files into the jar
Just move the pack into the texture pack folder and patch. Don't put anything into the jar
One of us doesnt know what their talking about, because I just did this and it didnt do a damn thing. I redownloaded a fresh jar, put the texture pack folder in the "texturepack" folder, patched and nothing happened. Default textures....
you have to SELECT the tecture pacfk from in the texture pack screen .. then it will chamnge to using that texture pack... sheesh... come on guys its not rocket science,
install a fresh mc 1.4_01
apply mcpatcher beta 3
copy texture packs to the texture pack folder
run minecraft
select the texture pack you want to use.
play a game.

Cant seem to make this work with the latest GLSL shaders. Installing the HD patcher overrwrites the shaders and then if I reinstall the shaders I can log in and browse the menus, but the minute I join a singleplayer/multiplayer game it black screens. Wat do?
Try this:
Start with a fresh download
patch
place a texture pack (the one you use with the shaders)
then select the pack in game and exit
then install the shaders.
Might just be a resolution thing, so this may work around it by resizing before you apply the shaders.

Been trying to get the Patcher 2.0 to work but every time I click open with Java, a command prompt window pops up and then disappears a split second later. I have the latest Java version for windows too and I loaded a new bin hoping that would help. But it doesn't seem to have.

I tried this last night, in a folder and out of a folder all inside the "texturepack" folder. There was nothing to select.
This method doesnt seem to work why doesnt the custom water and lava work like before with just placing the files inside the minecraft.jar? I've been using texture packs a long time now, why would the process be different all of a sudden?
How about this, what format do I need the texture packs in? If its made for multiple texture packs then I assume they each need to be in their own folder, inside the texturepack folder. But for me, there is nothing to select, just default.
This not being able to open it is getting very annoying. Is there anything missing from the download? It just won't open. Command prompt flashes with some error barely up long enough to read even a word.

they should be in .zip format and the zip needs to be in the texturepack folder.. I don't know what to tell you about water and lava as they work fine for me when they are in the terrain.png

you just need the mcpatcher jar..that's it.. if it doesn't work by double clicking it.. and you already set it to open with java in it's properties(not just click open with) idk what to tell you.. no reason it shouldn't work.
I never had to set anything to anything. I literally just double clicked the file (mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta3.jar) and it ran.
Made this ages ago when people couldn't install Misa's and said the pack was laggy....
Instead of the old patcher popping up, you see this:
You click patch at the bottom. That's the only thing that's changed from the video...note the version in the video. This is all I've ever had to do. I have yet to have a texture pack problem.

Can anyone get this to work with TFC's mod manager? I have tried with a fresh minecraft folder to both patch first, mod second and also mod first, patch second
Wasn't easy getting this screencap. This is what happens when I try to open it up.
Ok, I see the problem. See in the screen shot where it says "mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta3.zip"? It's supposed to be "mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta3.jar". Try renaming it from .zip to .jar

Could be. My guess is that is was "saved as" a zip instead of a jar. So just rename it and it should work. The part that allows a .jar to be run as an exe is coded into the jar...if I read right when searching for an answer.

Retired StaffAt what point in the video or anywhere on here did it say to open the patcher and find anything to run?
What you download is what you run
