I found some magical conflict between Minecraft Forge and one of the mods that comes with MCPatcher which is:
"Custom Colors"
I believe this here is the relevant error message:
Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.VerifyError: (class: l, method: b signature: (F)V) Inconsistent stack height 1 != 0
at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.a(Minecraft.java:435)
at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(Minecraft.java:732)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:722)
Please add the Connected Textures mod to MCPatcher ....I know the Optifine mod has it, but when I installed optifine my Minecraft crashed please add the CT mod please
1.It's easier to adjust the mod's settings in Optifine.
2. Find out how to get an error report and put the report in a spoiler. Look in my signature for help on how to use a spoiler!
Actually, Forge requires ModLoader and ModLoaderMp only. Player API is not only not a dependency, it also seems to have some incompatibility (from what I could read on its thread).
Also on the subject of Forge, as I'm an OptiFine user I have no idea what classes MCPatches changes. Is it incompatible with Forge altogether?

1. That's what it was!
2. The MCPatcher version of Random mobs remembers which random-texture was applied to each mob. Other than that everything that comes with MCPatcher isn't any better than what comes with Optifine. Also, Optifine already has all the mods, but it has some dissadvantages.
MODS TO USE IN OPTIFINE: HDTextures and HDTont
MODS TO INSTALL WITH MCPATCHER: Randommobs, and custom colors
I am aware of the differences between MCPatcher and Optifine. : ) Additionally, OptiFine implements Optimine and Optifog, so the fact it contains MCPatcher's features is meant as an extra and not its primary use.
However, that's not what I asked. I'm asking if MCPatcher is currently compatible with Forge API. It doesn't matter if Randomobs works better in MCPatcher and if OptiFine has some bugs still, because if Forge is incompatible, then MCPatcher is of no use to me. That's why I'm asking.
This is mainly a question intended to help shed some light on bug reports that have been surfacing where MCPatcher appears to be glitching spritesheet functionality.

Don't install patches in MCPatcher if you're going to use them in optifine; no classes are overwritten, but Optifine won't be able to control the patches from mcpatcher( i think)
I downloaded the latest version but HD Textures, HD Fonts, and Custom Colors are greyed out. I don't have any mods installed and it's a fresh bin of minecraft. I don't know what is happening.

guys, calm down! 1.2.4 came out... a few hours ago? If you guys try making a mod or texture pack, you will no that you cant just go "meh, i'll do this in 5 seconds!" Seriously, i know from experience... and it looked horrible... dont mean to moan, but give him time. A day or two?
Not even that. He usually gets it up in a few hours. he may have just woken up, or not even yet.
Wait and a hour or two, and if you still want to complain, talk to your mom.
Just tagging along to this topic so that I get notified when mcpatcher gets updated.
Thanks to the author for keeping this going and updating it through all these releases since well... Since mcpatcher first came out. It is greatly appreciated.
.......here's my log:
MCPatcher version is 2.3.4_01
OS: Windows 7 6.1 x86
JVM: Sun Microsystems Inc. 1.6.0_31 (32 bit)
Classpath: C:\Users\utilizador\Downloads\mcpatcher-2.3.4_01.exe
Minecraft version is 1.2.4 (md5 25423eab6d8707f96cc6ad8a21a7250a)
<snip>
......plz help
I think the log shows what the problem is
1) You're using MCPatcher 2.3.4_01
2) You using Minecraft 1.2.4
Conclusion.......
'[1.1/1.2.3] MCPatcher 2.3.4_01' (as shown in the title) Doesn't Work with 'Minecraft 1.2.4' because it Hasn't BeenUpdated !!!
I think the [1.1/1.2.3] in the title gives the game away
Forge requires Modloader AND Player API

The only thing I can't figure out is why the "test Minecraft" button was grayed out after I patched Minecraft with 10+ mods. Would it be that I run the portable version?
Portable Minecraft (Minecraft on your USB key) | Kioskea.net
EDIT: I forgot to download JPortable (Java Portable)
EDIT: Still won't work.

Idiot.
Modloader IS compatible with better grass.
