The fire for torches is in the particles.png. The animated fire (for instance, from furnaces) uses the two tiles on the terrian.png to the right of the mushrooms, and the two tiles below it along the right edge of the template (nest to the dispensers).

Okay so when I try to patch certain texture packs with the beta patcher it won't patch. When I patch it it's still the default pack, however this isn't the case with all texture packs, I can use BASICO but that's the only HD pack I've tried. Other packs don't work though ie. Bordercraft, gerudoku, etc. When I select them from the in-game texture pack switcher it loads as the default texture pack. Obviously I know how to patch it. I just don't know what's wrong.
when you patch...don't change anything..just patch it... put all your texture packs into the .minecraft/texturepacks folder and change them in the texture pack menu. you don't patch each one anymore.
I know that...I've been using this one for a loong time. I've done a little detective work and fixed it, not exactly sure how I did it but whatever. It works.
Please add the option to select texture packs again. I hate putting textures in the Minecraft.jar file. I liked it when you were able to select it in the Old patcher.
Without the option to select a texture pack I will not use this.
use minecrafts built in Texture pack selector , open up the texture pack folder and copt the zip file into there , then simply select the texture pack from in there.
thats what this updated patch alloows , so you don't have to re-run this patcher every time you want to change texture packs. unlike earlier releases , this version changes the buffer sizes etc on the fly when you select a different resolution texture pack. so now you can load in 16* up to 256* straight from the texture pack menu in minecraft.
Yeah...about the fire and the replies to it. Any secret (or anything yer smokin :tongue.gif:) to see other than default like I said?
I could have sworn that my previous post was accurate. It was just an educated guess, based on what I know about texture packs. When you run the HD patcher, there's a choice under the options tab for default or non-animated custom fire - I am unsure which one does what. Maybe one of the more experienced pack designers can clarify.

ehh...yeah (looks down at sig)
Well that would include me. Made a couple of texture packs...you should check em out :tongue.gif:
Without sounding too irritated, I'll just point out that you and Grugsy (the grouch :tongue.gif:) are the one's what replied to my post as if I was asking a question, rather than stating what I know (as far as I have tested at least). I am just trying to see if I was wrong so that I will know (there's still a lot to learn for me) and can help know if the patcher is supposed to now be enabling the fire texture (which it never has for any pack I've ever used/tested).

I give this a THUMBS DOWN because all this patcher does if you have mods like SDK or PLANES this stupid thing just BREAKS THEM! I used this before i had mods, but i give this an OFFICIAL THUMBS DOWN i hate this thing, never gonna use it.
Can someone please help? I have the jolicraft texture pack, and I want the custom water, lava, etc and I don't know what to do? Once I download MC patcher, then what? Where do I put it? Where is this patch button and where do I find it? Can someone please help me I've been asking for days..
Also I only have free version of minecraft. I haven't bought the game yet. I've signed up but haven't bought it. Do I need the full version of it? Because I can't find the minecraft.jar file anywhere I can only fine minecraft.exe and the .minecraft file. I have windows xp by the way. Please help! :sad.gif:

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I'm aware of your work, I was merely trying to help answer welikedigging's question. Unfortunately, my understanding of how things work is apparently incorrect. When I said "more experienced", I meant more experienced than me. As Grugsy can tell you, I'm just a cut-and-paste kind of guy that is learning his way around all this stuff - but I try to help when and how I can. I've got a lot to learn, too - moreso than any of you. And I've learned as much from my mistakes as my successes here.

I dont know if its just me or what, but I cannot get custom water and lava. I tried it on both Albion and Misa's Texture packs they both have default water/lava, while everything else is fine. I even created the custom_water_flowing.png, etc. and it still didnt work. Is there something I can do? Its only been like this since the 1.4 patch I figured that the coding for water changed from the currents changing and it wasnt working anymore.
My process is: move the texture pack files into the jar, use the mcpatcher, put in the mods... thats it.
The mods I'm running are recommended for my server they are: improved chat, improved inventory, optiminer, and minimap w/modloader, nothing more. So anyone have a solution?

Tested it on regular fire though. Even with the new patcher, it doesn't "animate" anything. I'll test s'more....

Retired StaffFurnaces use the particles ping for me...like I thought:
And the fire stays the same (using nothing from the terrain.png) when you patch it to be animated:
Default:
Non animated:
Animated:

Without the option to select a texture pack I will not use this.

Curse Premiumyou did something wrong
I agree with Grugsy. Start off with a fresh jar and then use the patcher. Install SDK's mods and Planes afterwards.
Also I only have free version of minecraft. I haven't bought the game yet. I've signed up but haven't bought it. Do I need the full version of it?
