Firstly, i want to thank you for such a remarkable tool!
And then, here is my problem:
I'm using portable version of MC. You know, patcher exits with an error if it don't find minecraft folder in default place. Is there any way to direct a patcher on the other path?
Firstly,
A huge thank you to Kahr for keeping this most essential mod alive.
Once you've had HD the game just sucks without it.
Secondly, lots of people still seem to be having trouble, so I am offering my setup.
I have been able to get 'HD texture fix' running with about 3 dozen mods, including 'Optimine'.
Besides solving a lot of mod conflicts, I've made it as easy as installing a single mod.
I've also made a lot of HD textures for the visualization type mods.
Better bitmaps for 'More Flowers', 'Wild Grass' (now other plants too), 'Coral', paintings, etc.
And I've been able to add a lot of buildings to the world using 'Ruins': Caution: Most of the new buildings hold both treasures and dangers.
So, if you are still haveing trouble, feel free to stop in and download it all working together at once (30+mods).

I'm getting an OOM error when trying to change to a 256x256 texture pack.
The process ends up using more than 1 gig of memory before it crashes.
Setting java to high priority didnt help, and upping the memory in my java settings
(under Control Panel > java > java > view > Runtime paramaters and entering " -Xms500m -Xmx2548m") did not help at all.

Excuse me for being a noob, but, how do I run this?
this was answered on "insert thread page here"
double click it.. if it tries to unzip set it to run with java...click patch..put packs into minecraft texture pack folder and choose it in minecraft..
seriously..read the thread before asking something like this... chances are "how do I run this?" has been answered a hundred times already
So I know this is a beta but I have to use it to be able to use anything higher than 32x but a lot of textures aren't working, ie) GeruDoku, Bordercraft, etc. I have the latest version of the patcher and tex pack but it's still not working. It won't work with the old patcher either since it just gets stuck at 22%. Would appreciate help.
need more info on what is happening or we can't help[/quote]
Okay so when I try to patch certain texture packs with the beta patcher it won't patch. When I patch it it's still the default pack, however this isn't the case with all texture packs, I can use BASICO but that's the only HD pack I've tried. Other packs don't work though ie. Bordercraft, gerudoku, etc. When I select them from the in-game texture pack switcher it loads as the default texture pack. Obviously I know how to patch it. I just don't know what's wrong.
Okay, I couldn't find anything about what is happening to me. Here it goes. I click open with java and a terminal pops up for less than half a second. Thats it. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

(PS I'm running on Windows and just re-installed the newest Java.)
Add an application file in the RAR archive, because my computer is stupid, thinks it's not safe, and forces me to save and open the archive, rather than running the app. Therefore, with no application shortcut, I can't even run the damn patcher.
For Macs it should be looking in the Application Support directory already. What exact version of Mac OS do you have? Do you know why that message box has an XWindows icon?
I need to know what Java thinks your "os.name" property is. If you can compile java programs, please run this:
public class Hello {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println(System.getProperty("os.name"));
}
}
Save that as Hello.java and run
javac Hello.java
java Hello
I assure you I'm not sure how to compile Java programs, but I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.7.

when you patch...don't change anything..just patch it... put all your texture packs into the .minecraft/texturepacks folder and change them in the texture pack menu. you don't patch each one anymore.
I've been looking around all the files in bot the minecraft folder and in the jar but can't find the default animated fire png. Does anyone know how to change the animated fire because(i.e. where is the png for it)?

Far as I know...you can't
When animated, its default. When not but using custom textures (like in the terrain), it just sits there looking like whatever the custom texture is.

But I've noticed xau's patcher increases the fire resolution for the corresponding hd size because all the 32x32 fire looks the same as does the 64x64 fire for all the 64x packs so could it be something in xau's patcher?

Curse Premiumthis was answered on "insert thread page here"double click it.. if it tries to unzip set it to run with java...click patch..put packs into minecraft texture pack folder and choose it in minecraft..
seriously..read the thread before asking something like this... chances are "how do I run this?" has been answered a hundred times already
I don't feel like reading through 14 pages.

Curse PremiumJust 2 questions:
How do I find out how much memory a texture pack needs?
Is it bad if I get the out of memory error for a x128 pack, and I allowed Java 2 GB?
Okay so when I try to patch certain texture packs with the beta patcher it won't patch. When I patch it it's still the default pack, however this isn't the case with all texture packs, I can use BASICO but that's the only HD pack I've tried. Other packs don't work though ie. Bordercraft, gerudoku, etc. When I select them from the in-game texture pack switcher it loads as the default texture pack. Obviously I know how to patch it. I just don't know what's wrong.
Thanks
CJdog89
(PS I'm running on Windows and just re-installed the newest Java.)
If you need a pic just tell me.
I assure you I'm not sure how to compile Java programs, but I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.7.

Curse Premiumwhen you patch...don't change anything..just patch it... put all your texture packs into the .minecraft/texturepacks folder and change them in the texture pack menu. you don't patch each one anymore.

Retired StaffFar as I know...you can't
When animated, its default. When not but using custom textures (like in the terrain), it just sits there looking like whatever the custom texture is.
