Your a Genious. Thank you. the -jar was the ticker. I think there maybe something wrong with my enviorment. I run 32 and 64 bit java. I have to. BUt I don't understand enough yet to get the enviroment settings correct. Thanks your ur help.
WTF? There isn't anything to click, its just a friggin archive full of random folders, and I've now wasted 2 hours searching this thread and the old one for anything even remotely resembling an explanation as to how to make this new patcher work- Tried dropping the stuff into minecraft.jar since there's a META-INF in there, but (on a clean save, btw), it only causes my game to crash when I try to switch to a texture besides the default, and afterwards to crash (with no error message or one that appears for only a fraction of a second) every time I start the game. There are no buttons and no tabs, no "input" and "output", no "patch" and "unpatch", no "test minecraft", NOTHING.
actually, if you indeed HAD looked through this thread..even the last couple of pages you would have found MY answer to this very problem several times over. you need to run it with JAVA not unzip it. look back in the thread a little ways to find instructions how to do that.
I keep hearing conflicting adivce on that. Some say run this patch first, then mod - others say the opposite.
Using texture packs has never been a problem for me - no issues at all. But I've been hesitant to use mods (even the simplest, like WildGrass) because the process is so unclear. Which minecraft.jar do you mod (now there's two - the 1.4_01 one would make the most sense but the mod still doesn't work).
I know it's kind of off-topic, but this is why I think a unified modding API is so important.

the normal minecraft.jar...the one with the # is the backup mcpatcher creates to recover from when you click unpatch

Also..as to the first part, Xau's first HD patcher worked a bit different. Most have told me that this version changed it to where you patch first. Best thing you can do is try it out...I did and I never use mods. Worked fine patching first, then mods (even if it was just one mod)

Please help!? When i try to start up minecraft it just says i have crashed. I print screened it because it only stays for a split second. Then it stays as a white screen in browser, or shuts down in minecraft pop out.
I did recently get the painterly pack and i think that may have made it awry and crash. I am a 16 year old who knows nothing about what to do on this issue. XD
Please help!! DX
So I know this is a beta but I have to use it to be able to use anything higher than 32x but a lot of textures aren't working, ie) GeruDoku, Bordercraft, etc. I have the latest version of the patcher and tex pack but it's still not working. It won't work with the old patcher either since it just gets stuck at 22%. Would appreciate help.
But of course I can't change it, either, because it'd rather just exit itself. >:/
this has been answered...look through the thread.

Neither the patcher nor, as far as I know, any other mods work with the browser-based version of the game. Download the standalone version instead.

It's probably because that's not where Minecraft is installed on a Mac... :/
For Macs it should be looking in the Application Support directory already. What exact version of Mac OS do you have? Do you know why that message box has an XWindows icon?
I need to know what Java thinks your "os.name" property is. If you can compile java programs, please run this:
public class Hello {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println(System.getProperty("os.name"));
}
}
Save that as Hello.java and run
javac Hello.java
java Hello

Curse PremiumCustom dial.png should work. What texture packs are you having trouble with? Are you using any other mods?
Check the Patch Summary tab.
Ya like art?

Retired StaffI now have a total of 37 mods and patches (including this one) installed and all seem to be working fine
when applying other mods don't use any that change these class files as these are patched by this patcher

I havn't run into any other mods yet that use these though
also to change textures you simply add them into your texture pack directory and use minecraft to change the texture packs.
this update certianly makes things a hell of a lot easier to apply and use.
Remember always backup your minecraft directory prior to adding any mods,patches
