New release 2.1.2. Features include better handling of pre-release versions of the game as well as the much-requested ability to create different mod profiles. See OP for more information.
EDIT: Arghh! The github uploader sucks. The github link for the Other platforms version will stay broken until it decides to cooperate.
whenever I use the HD texture's on mcpatcher they work but when I play the game it runs out of memory and when I try to restart it again it gets stuck on the start menu. Please help :sad.gif:
I'm trying to install LB Photo Realism, and it says that this is required.
After several botched attempts, I deleted everything back to default and tried again.
After I download the Windows file, mcpatcher appears on my desktop. I launch it, and get an error message that it couldn't open my jar. It tells me to delete my bin folder and shut down the patcher. But, no matter what I do I am stuck in the loop.
I also can't figure out how to shut down the patcher.
So everytime that I try this out, I have to open my task manager and manually shut down my java files.
This... Is awful. It crashed my game and every single time I try to play the game, it closes out on me, telling me it's saving. So... Congratulations, you made something to crash peoples' game.
So I seem to be having some trouble getting this to work properly on the Mac. I don't know if it's just my own incompetency or not, but either way it's really starting to frustrate me.
I am using Gilmmar's Steampunk texture pack, which is 32x32. When I leave the game un-patched, I get the usual missing texture bits, but I DO get the custom lava and water texture, just without any animation.
When I DO patch the game, it fixes the missing pieces, and makes the custom water/fire/lava animations work, but it stops the custom water/fire/lava TEXTURES from working.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong, that can fix this? Thanks.
Also, someone suggest to Kahr to allow for the block breaking animation to be more than 10 frames, just scaled to different speed according to how many frames it has. We could use a separate file, like "custom_break_animation.png". That would make it much more versatile -- we could have some incredibly smooth animations done that way, drawn pixel by pixel instead of line by line like we generally need to do now. I, for one, would use it. It would make some awesome block breaking animations.
textures both 16bit and higher do not work. I fresh installed 1.8.1 and patched it. The texture packs were all grayed out except for the original. This happened for the 16 bit packs and the others. I put pre release 3 on thee and it still would not let me select the texture packs. All texture packs are in the proper format and I followed the install instructions.
(the better grass mod works though)
Did I do something wrong?
I know i have to install it in the Backup minecraft1.8.1.jar, but now i dont have any backup of fresh minecraft.jar of 1.8.1, and i cant unpatch it...
Delete minecraft.jar and minecraft-1.8.1.jar and use the launcher to redownload them. Then run the patcher again and it will create minecraft-1.8.1.jar from the freshly downloaded minecraft.jar. I highly recommend using the patcher to install other mods from this point as it will prevent this sort of confusion from happening in the future.

The zip files are packaged incorrectly. There should just be folders, terrain, gui, etc, directly inside the zip. If the zip contains an extra folder which has everything else, the game will not find any of the files it needs and the pack will appear greyed out.
In other words, it should look like this:
TexturePack.zip
terrain.png
gui/items.png
etc.
Not this:
TexturePack.zip
TexturePack
terrain.png
gui/items.png
etc.
I tried to download it (windows 7) while using Windows Internet Explorer 9 and seems to not download it because it has a virus. Any suggestions? I know it's not a non-harmful virus but Internet Explorer thinks otherwise. Same as Norton.

Version 2.1.2 supports mod profiles. Switch between sets of mods easily. A profile is automatically created for each version of Minecraft you patch, including pre-releases. You can also create custom profiles.
With the addition of the new feature listed above, this utility just became a whole lot more useful. Awesome!!!
Alright so I installed MCPatcher and put in all my texture packs, but now all my texture packs are being mixed and matched. Some still lava textures are from different texture packs than the ones I'm using, and the default texture pack has been completely replaced by one of my other packs. What happened?
Oh, and I'm using Mincraft 1.8 and the latest MCPatcher from the OP.
Any chance for custom(HD) SGA font(used for the enchantment table) support in the near future? :smile.gif:
It will use custom fonts for the enchantment table, but only on first loading the game. It doesn't switch fonts when the texture pack is changed. I'm working on a fix for this now, but in the meantime, you can restart the game to get the proper font.

WS.Reputation.1 is a false positive. See the first question in the FAQ.
You should definitely add this, Kahr.

I think those are pulled from particles.png, not the font. Once texture pack authors have updated, they should be visible.
Interesting idea. I'll see how hard it would be to make it work.

There's your problem. That's an ancient version of the patcher. Download the latest version linked in the OP.
