This is exactly what I am now seeing as well. Misas 3.0.0 on minecraft 1.8.1 with either mcpatcher 2.1.1 or 2.1.0_02 will quickly allocate memory until minecraft crashes.
Changing Java versions (6 or 7) and bumping up -Xms/Xmx memory settings does not seem to have any effect, other than to change how long it takes before the crash occurs.
I use Misa's all the time and I've never seen this. Could you PM me your patch log and any error messages you're getting?
I've updated the patcher to 2.1.1_01 and fixed the bug with ModLoader. See OP for details.
The problem of stone side textures of dirt remains. TMI and SpawnerGUI still doesn't load via ModLoader, so it must mean that ModLoader is at fault here. No?
If I have a slower computer and patch my minecraft.jar with the HD Patch and run a one of the larger texture pack sizes (32x32, etc), would it affect how laggy Minecraft gameplay is?

maybe... it all depends on the computer and how it is optimized.... you are almost guaranteed to not be able to run 256x without a 64bit system.. but 128x and below are doable on older/slower comps with decent frame rates.

Yeah. For a normal computer, it will drop anywhere between 2 and 6 FPS - that's if you get like 30-40 normally. For extra-slow computers (20 FPS and under at 16x), don't even bother trying. Way too much lag. For a superduper computer, you'll notice no lag at all.
See the bit in the OP where it details how to install mods using MCPatcher - you'll need to do this with ModLoader. You should also try starting from a clean .jar if you're not already doing that.

I do old fashion manual install for modloader ( drag n drop in winrar )
then i startup MCPatcher.
Yes it was clean jar.
I will try this time to install modloader via MCPatcher. Doubt it will make any change.
please tell me how to update mcpatcher!!
Ok, so first i had 2.1.1 and patched that with my texture pack.
Later on i decided to install some mods like toomanyitems that require ModLoader. I manually installed ModLoader, then this update came out, so i decided to re patch with this update and so all my mods are gone!!!
Why?? Is there a correct way of updating mcpatcher to the game?
Suggestion: display conflicts as a table:
Conflicting path // Addon1 // Addon2
And store conflict resolution decision... I do know i'm using a replacement textures for some addons, I don't want to repackage them or mess with import list every time they gets updated.
A question:
I'm experiencing frequent client crashes mentioning that it has run out of memory, while the actual memory consumption I'm observing is very low - 100-200Mb top.
It is a bug in 1.8 or something I could address on my side?
At first, it worked fine, blah blah, derp derp. Then all the sudden water and fire doesn't come up for ANY TEXTURE, and things are screwed up. I patch it, but then I can't play Minecraft without a forced update, so i update it, and somehow that ruins the patch! It's a circle that goes on. WTH!??
I have used the new mc patcher and when I test it .. it works find. but when I start up minecraft it takes me to the black screen of nothingness. I am wondering what I need to get to you to pin point what is causing the issue.. I am getting tired at looking at "use mcpatcher newb , google it"

No it doesn't, just make sure to install modloader before patching.
Same thing with the Water Reflections mod.

Thanks alot for keeping this going. It is priceless.

This block is stone brick stairs.
This problem is MCpatcher cause?
I use 128px texturepack.
This happens even with vanilla on stone brick and regular brick stairs.

*sigh*
Turn Smooth Lighting on.
Yep. You gotta have Smooth Lighting. It doesn't lag hardly at all anyway, so it makes sense to use it.
