I just tried running it from a few different locations to see if it would make any difference.

Is there a reason why 64 bit java wont run the mcpatcher.jar? When I had this issue with 32 bit java, I would just run the jarfix.exe and it would allow me to run the patcher afterwards. Since I changed to 64 bit java now the jarfix doesn't even work. It says I don't have java installed. Has anyone else run into this?
odd.. I use 64bit and the patcher worked fine... right click on the patcher and choose properties.. make sure open with is set to the proper java install
edit: you can set it to run with 32bit java as well..you can/have both inatalled

I have it set to run with java platform SE Binary or javaw.exe. I have tried java.exe as well but I get the same message. I have no problem using 32 bit to run this jar but when I have both installed the game itself defaults to the 32 bit version which crashes a lot for me when playing the game. Does anyone know how to set the game to run on 64 bit java only when I have both installed? Thanks for the help Grugsy

set runs with on the minecraft.jar to the 64bit binary
edit: thanks for asking that btw...in figuring it out I realized mine was running in 32bit as well...lol instant 40fps boost changing it
Wtf.... this is so annoying, when i download it i get the jar etc i put it into java (for open with option) and when that happens i want to use 128x28 texture pack but it wont lemme do that? i try clicking the boxes for it and nothing >:sad.gif: it was alot simpler before, why cant u make 1 for that and is 1.4_01?! wrapped in next to GRR
how is this not simpler? you run the jar..click patch without changing anything.. put texturepacks into folder and choose the one you want in game without ever having to patch again? (unless mc updates) again..DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE PATCHER.
Just a heads up, anybody with CJB's minimap mod, the patch works but I get spammed this message constantly while the minimap is on the screen, It makes minecraft lag a little and occasionally crash.

Curse Premiumscroll up
Np and thank you for your help as well. I guess reinstalling both versions of java fixed the issue.
nix that got it to work, had that issue and resolved itself after trying again 2nd fresh install of both
