Sorry to bug, but can someone answer the question I posted last page?:
After I downloaded this, instead of there just being a minecraft.jar file in the bin folder, there was also a file named minecraft-1.8.1.jar. What is this file, and did MCPatcher install it, or am I just being stupid? Also, what would happen if I delete this file?
it's the backup that the patcher creates for when you press the unpatch button. deleting it will do nothing per se.
OKAY... For the third time... How do I fix the freaking white endermans glitch with the painterly pack??? In the painterly pack website it say that I need to patch the game with MCpatcher... It DID work for the spiders but not for the endermens!
Hey, I'm having a problem with the download. When I download mcpatcher on my mac, I get a .zip and when i unzip it, I get a folder with 4 things in it: a folder "com", a folder "javassist", a folder "META-INF", and a folder "resources."
I have installed mcpatcher many times on different versions of minecraft, and this has never happened to me before. Someone tell me where to go from here?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I write. Sometimes I'm good at it.
Emphasis on sometimes.
about the grey grass, the better grass mod (after installed) is the file nf.class right?
also mcpatcher seems to modify modloader files.
anyway, no matter what I do it is still grayed..
I wonder if there can have some conflict with other mods may be? not java conflict but a collateral effect? WaterShader? I got a big list of mods...
EDIT: I did as oriented, but it still not works, may be I should try disable all other mods and see what happens :smile.gif:
EDIT: I did exactly as oriented, without any other mods, with a fresh jar, and modloader thru mcpatcher, and still I get gray grass, may be some problem related to graphics card?
mcPatcher+betterGrass+waterShader :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:: D
I would like to report it is working and how it worked! :biggrin.gif:
1) I have installed mcpatcher before modloader, and with BetterGrass !
they (mcpatcher and modloader) dont have conflicting files.
but I was getting gray sides in grass :sad.gif:...
(just to point out, the BetterGrass file is nf.class)
2) then I added modloader vanilla (in other words, it was not modified by mcpatcher, what happens if you add it to mcpatcher and let it apply the patch).
3) I went for WaterShader :biggrin.gif:, installed it, but I was having crashes..
4) this cool dude created a patch!!! (the quote if from watershader thread)
@ Spruu - Stefan-r87 has bettergrass working now
use this qo.class file i posted before. its a fix for having bettergrass, modloader, and water shader. bettergrass fix for modloader
when I added it after all others (overwriting, therefore getting priority)
I had:
- transparent and reflective water
- 32x32 textures (my gfx is slow for more..)
- better grass fully working colored (no grey texture!!)
try it, and if it helps, if there is an easier way to say what I said, do so!
(I've been fighting with this all day long :>)
According to this it's supposed to fix the items being invisible from mods right?I deleted my jar and patched minecraft and the stuff is still invisible. Can anyone help?
I'm having trouble with water and lava - but, they both work fine when I'm viewing my world in MCedit. It's just the actual game that isn't seeing my custom water and lava (custom portal works fine).
I'm using (one of) the Painterly pack's water and lava textures, and my copy of MCpatcher is up to date. I'm not using any other mods except the ones that come with MCpatcher (HD textures/font and bettergrass).
I've tried everything I can think of, which isn't a lot because I'm not so good at these things :sad.gif:

Change the '.zip' to '.jar'.
A .jar file works similarly to a .zip or .rar, it's just that .jar files are suited for Java.
I'm also having issues with invisible ModLoader items. I have the .jar one, since the .exe didn't work for me, if it matters.
I downloaded this patcher, ran it, and it looks like it patches fine but right after using it, without installing any additional mods if I run Minecraft I just get a black screen after the Mojang screen.
Ive tried a few times (completely reinstalling the latest Mincecraft and trying the patch again) and this patch just seems to kill Minecraft for me.
Running Windows XP, and its a decent fairly new computer.
Anyone have any idea why this black screen could be happening? All the other mentions of black screen that ive seen ont he forums involve extra mods or other situations.
Your Minecraft.jar appears to be an older or preview version or already modded. This may work fine, but if the game crashes or you're having problems patching:
- Redownload the game by using force update in the launcher.
- Delete the back-up minecraft-1.9.jar
- If you're running other mods, try applying them after running the mcpatcher
Can anyone help, still having issues with the better grass option being greyed out.
Use the patcher to install ModLoader and make sure you start from a fresh minecraft.jar. Delete minecraft-1.8.1.jar (or minecraft-1.9.jar) and redownload. Better Grass does work with ModLoader, but you have to install them carefully because they both modify the same class file.
MCPatcher version is 2.1.1_01
OS: Windows Vista 6.0 x86
JVM: Sun Microsystems Inc. 1.6.0_26 (32 bit)

java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\TIMMY & ANGELA\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar (Access is denied)
If running as Administrator did not help, the only other thing I can think of is that you're trying to patch with the game still running. Windows doesn't like to overwrite files that are in use, so you would get this "Access is denied" error.

I have painterly pack and MCpatcher is supposed to fix the Endermans and spiders problem, but Endermens are still white...
I tried Painterly and the endermen look fine. Not sure what's going on. In the patcher go to the Options tab and enable debug logging. Then start the game using Test Minecraft and look for something like this in the log window. These messages won't appear until the first spiders/endermen spawn, so you may have to walk around for a bit a night.

Not familiar with that problem. Any mods in particular I should try? Also is this happening with 1.8.1 or 1.9?

Do you have water and lava set to "Custom Animated" in the patcher options? That looks for custom_*.png in the texture pack first, and if not found, uses the tiles in terrain.png instead.
Anyone have any idea why this black screen could be happening? All the other mentions of black screen that ive seen ont he forums involve extra mods or other situations.
Please post your patch log including the output of Test Minecraft and I'll see if I can figure anything out.

This is just a warning message and shouldn't prevent you from patching. In the future I plan to disable this message for prereleases, but for now, you can just ignore it.

Thank you very much for the reply, Sadly this does prevent me from patching.

Restoring original minecraft.jar due to previous error
Is there any chance to be able to install mods that require resources to be put elsewhere than the minecraft.jar? I mean be able to move the resources to their belonging folders from inside the patcher?
Check out my mod idea! http://www.minecraft...r-with-bending/
it's the backup that the patcher creates for when you press the unpatch button. deleting it will do nothing per se.
Really? Thanks. When I update to 1.9, will I have to delete the current MCPatcher,or when I download, will it replace the old files?

HELP! How do I fix this???
I have installed mcpatcher many times on different versions of minecraft, and this has never happened to me before. Someone tell me where to go from here?
Emphasis on sometimes.
about the grey grass, the better grass mod (after installed) is the file nf.class right?
also mcpatcher seems to modify modloader files.
anyway, no matter what I do it is still grayed..
I wonder if there can have some conflict with other mods may be? not java conflict but a collateral effect? WaterShader? I got a big list of mods...
EDIT: I did as oriented, but it still not works, may be I should try disable all other mods and see what happens :smile.gif:
EDIT: I did exactly as oriented, without any other mods, with a fresh jar, and modloader thru mcpatcher, and still I get gray grass, may be some problem related to graphics card?

mcPatcher+betterGrass+waterShader :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:: D
(the quote if from watershader thread)
when I added it after all others (overwriting, therefore getting priority)
I had:
- transparent and reflective water
- 32x32 textures (my gfx is slow for more..)
- better grass fully working colored (no grey texture!!)
try it, and if it helps, if there is an easier way to say what I said, do so!
(I've been fighting with this all day long :>)

PLEASE!!! HELP ME!
Just say it if you don't get what I get with Painterly Pack or if you don't even know the answer!
Please help!
Change the '.zip' to '.jar'.
A .jar file works similarly to a .zip or .rar, it's just that .jar files are suited for Java.
I'm also having issues with invisible ModLoader items. I have the .jar one, since the .exe didn't work for me, if it matters.
If running as Administrator did not help, the only other thing I can think of is that you're trying to patch with the game still running. Windows doesn't like to overwrite files that are in use, so you would get this "Access is denied" error.
Known bug that happens only to some people. See the OP for a possible workaround.
