Welcome to RPGCraft!
What is RPGCraft you say? Well, it is a texture pack I am making, some of the textures are complete, but not all. This texture pack is my first, or second if you count my older failed texture pack. The textures may not be as good as the textures from Painterly, Eld's Pack or even Quandary. My mission was to give Minecraft a kind of dark and RPG-like feeling. This means the texture pack is darker then others. Inspired by texture packs like Doku's RPG and Painterly.
Screenshots
Of course, screenshots is a must for texture packs!
The map can be found here. This is all the blocks.
All of the ores and their inventory icon. The green grey ingot is a Magic Steel Ingot.
Zelda style heart containers for the win!
Where are the Diamonds?
Diamonds? The world of RPGCraft doesn't know anything about diamonds. They are useless for tool making anyway, sure, they can break most things, but when it is used as a tool, it becomes brittle. Your worlds now have Magic Steel Ingots, the remains of the old kingdom of Minecraftia when magic were used to enchant steel into a super strong metal. After all these years, these ingots are the only remains. They are stuck in stone, kinda like the fossils of Minecraftia. These tools can be used to craft magic weapons with special names.
What is these special names?
Alright, each weapon has a history attached to it. Let me tell you each of them.
Sword of Heroes
The Sword of Heroes was worn by the ancient heroes of the kingdom of old, these type of swords stored ultimate power and could defeat evil and good beings in one to two strikes. The sword became reknown when a warrior defeated 20 creepers at once using it. Only a master craftsman can craft it.
Spirit of a Miner
They say that this pickaxe has a spirit of a famous miner bound to it, apparently, this miner sacrificed his life to get gold for his king, their mines didn't really have much gold, and he had to cross a sea of lava, and when he almost reached it, monsters attacked him. They say this pickaxe brings good luck.
King's Battleaxe
People say the king of the old kingdom used this when a enemy army attacked his castle. They say he could clear out most of the army using it, but eventually, both armies failed to win, no one still lives to know what have happened.
Treasure Hunter's Partner
This was the tool of a reknown treasure hunter, he found millions of gold, diamonds and iron from a unknown civilization skeletons. However, these skeletons eventually fought back to get their lost jewelery back, people say this shovel is blessed with good luck and better ability to find treasures. But that is just a rumor, right?
Hoe of Life
This hoe is, apparently, blessed with the ability to revive all kinds of plants, however, there is no proof. But we do know that this hoe was used in the old kingdom to sprout wheat in a instant, and because of this amazing ability, it has become reknown. We are unsure if this ability works on anyone that does not have access to magic.
Give me an example
Sure, here is an example of the terrain for you, but remember. Do not use this, there is a download link at the bottom.
Major Changes
-Clay is now red and bricks are still red.
-Iron Ingots and tools now have a tint of blue in them.
-Diamonds are now Magic Steel Ingots, which can be used to make magic tools. These tools and ingots are grey-green.
-Sugar Canes now look like Sugar Canes.
-Glowstone now drop Glowstone Chunks instead of Glowstone Dust.
-Redstone is renamed Magical Dust, and they now have a orange aura around them.
-Gunpowder is now Creepowder, colored green.
-Lapiz Lazuli has been renamed to Mystic Gem or Gems.
Alright, where is the download?
Well, it is right under you! Feel free to download it or ignore it. But please, comment on what you think about this texture pack!
Nice,I like the Magic Steel and the description of its tools. It doesn't really have that RPG feel, though.
Hmm... Well, can you try to tell me what I can do to make it feel like an RPG?
EDIT:

I love the dirt & grass.
Thank you, I have actually been spending some time on this one, but not as much as Doku's pack, painterly, etc...
However, I feel that I have improved from my last, failed texture pack. I am not going to link it as I don't like it, personally.
Versions V.02 has been released!
It includes some new textures, and mainly, a new door, redstone dust is magical dust and gunpowder is creepowder. If you don't like it, then feel free to choose the alternate gunpowder. Also, Lapiz Lazuli is now a Mystic Gem, it was apparently used in ancient magic rituals, magical dust has also been believed to take a part in these rituals. No one knows why, but there seems to flow some magical energy through this dust.
Alright, I removed the part in the title stating it's version because I was getting a feeling that people didn't want to post or view it because of that, :biggrin.gif: The version number will now be at the bottom of the first post.
EDIT: Oh man, I just quadruple-posted. Maybe I scould find some other way of advertisement, like a banner.
Well some of these textures seem like they are cartoonish, or maybe lazily drawn? While others are detailed down to every last pixel. If I were you I would add more detail in some of the less-detailed blocks. But it looks pretty good! Keep it up!

I'm a Java programmer, and I'm a terrible artist. Anything else, just ask me.

That is true, some textures was lazily drawn, but because I am honest, I can tell you that on a very low amount of textures, I used the noise tool Paint.NET supplies me, but I have only used it on: All metal and gem blocks, Soul Sand, Sugar Canes, Bricks and Clay. You see that the textures that I used it on would either end up really really ugly if I didn't use it or that I wanted to make it look perfect. The grass was the first texture of the pack, so at that time I didn't have the skills of now. And that was a long time ago. But thank you for the positive response and the constructive criticism(if that is how you spell it.).
Great pack, but could you please change the name? People might confuse this with my custom map called RPGcraft
Hmm... Could you suggest of another one? I though of something like Fantasycraft, but I still want it to have RPG in the name.
EDIT: But as long as I have - by Sirolu in the name, it scouldn't confuse most people, right?
Can you suggest another name? I ran out of ideas for special names, hehe.
No, I actually like it like that, makes me laugh :biggrin.gif:
and if you are going for a more RPG-like feel, maybe add a bit more contrast to some blocks and make it feel a bit darker overall. That really helps set the mood!

I don't want to make everything too dark, thought. But, yeah. Maybe sometime. I tried to make it kinda original. Oh, and I love your texture pack.

World Of Fantasy or RPGlands? It's an awesome texture pack by the way, I love the descriptions of special items
I actually want to keep RPGCraft, but if it really offends or annoys you, I guess I can change it.
Oh, and thank you, I think I started this sometime in January or late December. Haha, of course, I didn't work too much on it then.
EDIT: The next release will include a much smoother grass and sidegrass. Also, all backups and alternatives will be kept in a single file.
Just to let you know, I made a texture pack a few weeks back that I named 'RPGcraft'. I didn't realise the name was already taken :smile.gif: but i'll be changing it seeing as yours was created first.
Oh, there is no need for that, but you can. As long as I have - by Sirolu in the name, it scouldn't be a problem.

Nice pack please make your weapons slightly thinner. Thanks!
Well, I really can't do that, as you see, this is a 16x pack and therefore, a thin blade will look stupid. I'd rather have a thick and cool looking blade then a thin and stupid looking blade.
EDIT2: You guys can except a update soon, because someone posted on it again, I was motivated to work on the new update again. It changes tnt with powder kegs, the new chest, record player [Magic Music Player] ,the note block [Magic Sound player.] and much smoother and improved grass. I will also finish all the tools before the next release.
