Well, I'm a texture artist, not a sound artist.
I also consider my pack to be a texture pack, not a replace-the-entire-game pack.

I'm not interested in muddling up my texture pack with poor quality sounds, which would inevitably happen if I were to attempt such a thing with my limited recording equipment and general lack of skill in this area. I would never be able to outdo or even match the quality of the sounds that come with the game. From my perspective, they don't really need replacing, hehe!

I'm also not interested in lifting sounds from the many free sources online. This pack is my personal art project, so I wouldn't include stuff that wasn't made by me.

Keep in mind that with the new way resource packs are handled, you can have both a texture pack and a separate sound pack and use them together without having to merge the ZIP files. So, if you really would like to have different sounds, I recommend downloading dedicated sound pack, such as SnowSong.

Hell, if I ever were to make a sound pack, I would probably release it as a separate pack entirely! For easy mix-matching... and stuff.

i disagree to your disagreement. the developers made perfectly good sounds, and wayukian fits those sounds. it works. it doesn't need a change, it would barely benefit from one. and really, if you change all the visuals AND the sounds, you're getting to the point where you don't really seem to be playing the same game anymore.

I have recently spoken to Wayuki as well as the other contributors in order to get the propper permissions to start a new and updated mod support thread. That makes no sense, really. Sounds and textures don't change the game mechanics, it's still the same game just with a different look. Changing how the diamond sword looks does not change the amount of damage.

Hey Wayuki, I love your texture pack. It seems to have a certain quality to it that makes the game seem more detailed, but still retains the original simplistic style of minecraft. That is why I used it for the new project I'm creating!

the look and feel of a game are really what define a game in your mind. if you change that, IS it the same game really? i know it's actually the same game, but it feels different, and that's what really matters in our mind

I don't really mind if there are new sounds added or not, I'm not too fussed either way. I'm sure I'd like them if they were there and I'd imagine they would be great but I'd only really feel disappointed if I heard them and then found out they wouldn't be added.

also, this thread hasn't had any activity for ages, and so i'll start a new topic of conversation:

a ) it's been a while since an update, how are the nether mobs and such doing?

and b ) i noticed that the newest version of MCpatcher supports things such as different textures for different amonts of damage, and i'm wondering if you're thinking about that. i'm just asking since it seems the sort of thing you'd add to the pack

I love the realistic, yet comedic look. It's awesome!

a ) Well, I just came back from a 3 week holiday to my home country, so no progress whatsoever!
b ) No, that's too much work. I'll never make it through all the default content if I also have to make different damage states for every tool.

also 3 weeks? wow. i can't stay away from home for more than a week without going insane. why do you think i'm how i am?

also, as you've left us hanging for 3 weeks while we all thought you had too much work to do to get back to us, i think we deserve to see the new nether mobs soon

I spent every single weekend from May 18th to November 4th working on mobs, the horse update, and the flower update. I also worked on my pack many nights after work.

I did that instead of going out, visiting friends, shopping, sleeping, and all those other things that most normal people do.

After that... I took a break. I like to think it was a deserved break.

Quite a few of the other pack authors who also put their backs into their work have discontinued because it takes a lot out of them.

I don't see why she can't kinda treat it like a job though......and take Christmas off

whoa...

now i feel even worse about saying something so rude. maybe i should just leave...

btw, forewarning: the new snapshots have new blocks, just so you're not caught out later when it's sooner to release
new blocks: slime block, granite, polished granite,diorite, polished diorite, andesite and polished andesite.

i'll keep you posted on anything new so you know what to expect.

I don't often search out for new texture packs to use, but definitely glad I did today. This is absolutely stunning! It's officially my favourite pack (along with Jolicraft). Love it - Thanks for sharing it, Wayuki.
