Hey guys, today I decided I'd give making a texture pack a try. My problem is I don't know a lot about it. Anyone have any tips/tricks to making good texture packs? Here is what I have so far.
You have the right principles down.
But if you really need some pointers..
I made a video that is specifically designed for people like you :smile.gif:
I tried to be as descriptive as possible and so far the feedback has been positive :smile.gif:
Edit. And yes as it is called "Rainbow Pack" I suggest giving everything a colourful nature. Be sure not to make any colour clashes either. Eg. Purple dirt, green wood... Eww haha
Hmmm I like the idea. But see my problem is more of a "Idk where to start" kind of thing. I want to make the tools look custom but I feel like I'd mess something up and I dont know how to start. You know?

Ill check that out as soon as I get my internet available again. :tongue.gif:
Thx for the help. Anything else? In the video you sent does it cover making custom tools?
Open up items.png that you find in the minecraft.jar
The tools there are literally what you see when you equip it ingame.
My video indirectly tells you what to do because the same grid can be used in items.png
So you have a size reference when creating the pack :smile.gif:
Be sure to have the items.png on the layer below the one you're working on so you can use that to draw :smile.gif:

haha awesome dude. Thanks for the help. Here's something that I just made real quick to test.
I hope you'll stick around though in case I have more questions.
I'm always around, so if you need me just email me at [email protected] or just pm me here.
Now for tools you should have it so that they stay the same colours as what you make the ores :smile.gif:
I mean... say you made iron a greenybluey colour but had it as that red and yellow... People would get deeply confused. :smile.gif:
Sometimes it's the most simplest approach that gets the job done
My work in the last 3 days. lol...I think I could have done more. Btw I make no promises that this will ever be completed. I will try very hard. (My projects always seem to fall apart if I promise to do them. So Im not promising this time.) But Im very busy right now with my rl. Not to mention managing a youtube channel and ect.
