Ok, so I'm using Paint.net to make a texture pack, and here's my problem:
I open the "items" folder to edit them.
I started with a diamond pick, and it seemed to be working fine, I was erasing the "blade" and making my own design.
If this has anything to do with it, I was using the paintbrush at its smallest size.
When I finished the pickaxe, I decided to test it. When I went into Minecraft and selected the right texture pack, (and I am SURE that I deleted the old item file and replaced it with the new one) I get in game, and it doesn't work, it was the default pickaxe texture still.
So after this I tried again, but I only made the diamond pickaxe black instead of actually changing the shape, just so I could see if it had something to do with the shape being too large or something.
After this, it was STILL the default. So I tried doing glass, and that didn't work either.
If someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be very appreciated!
Every item must have transparency around it. Not white. When you erased the old blade, did you cover it up with white, or delete it?
Protip: Use the pencil tool instead of the paintbrush as it gives much more reliable colours and draws where you click.
Yeah, I was using the erase tool. Right now I mainly want to know how to actually save the edited image.
This is what happens when I try to save over the image:
[...] Would you like to replace it? Yes
It seems to work, but when I click OK something pops up pretty much saying I that I can't just save the image, I have to delete the old one and replace it, and this does not work.
Also, I am not un zipping the pack. Should I do this first?

BUMP :biggrin.gif:
The new problem: When you go in game, the new tool textures are surrounded by a black box with the items on the inside.
I really need help with this! Anyone have any ideas?
