on notches blog he said that some mods have malicious software. i was just wondering if texture packs counted?

Notch was talking about mods that change your .exe file. Texture packs only contain images, so those will be fine.

The only thing we really have here that is a mod is the HD patcher. That DOES change the binary.
Texture packs themselves are harmless.

Here is hoping this little problem gets Mojang moving faster on a mod API over some other things.
