Okay doke, on my texture pack, redstone is now showing up properly. Rather then displaying correctly, all it does is turn the top of the block black (or red if powered). I do have the texture in the right place with the alpha clear, but what am I missing?
Are you sure that's not actually how the redstone is textured? What texture pack are you using?

"Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say that there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe." -Frank Zappa
Redstone was moved on the terrain.png to below the pine tree leaves and bed, and colored white like so:
That way, instead of having red and black, it has white so it can be gradient from red (actually orange) to black as it gets farther away from the source.
No matter what we do, un-lit redstone will stay black. Hopefully he fixes this problem soon.
Umm, I think you read this wrong. From what I am seeing, redstone, instead of being a line like it should, is covering up the entire block space.
