Hey guys! I got Minecraft just last week, and the freak that I am I immediately had to go and re-texture the whole thing. The screenshots below are from the egyptian-themed texture pack I'm currently working on (which I started BEFORE I realized that everyone and their third cousin has made an egyptian texture pack), but I think it looks pretty snazzy anyway. Let me know what you think! As soon as I'm done I'll make it available for download.
Solid gold chests, a bed featuring an egyptian head rest, brass lamps, and gilded windows! (Note: Floorboards made of cedar from Lebonan, just like they did thousands of years ago!)
A wall mural made from various colors of wool (light blue for the water, green for the ferns at the top, and lime for the background behind Isis) and paintings of crocodiles and the Egyptian goddess, Isis. NOTE: I plan to turn the smallest painting sizes into a kind of 'make your own message' thing, where each individual character (one per canvas) can be arranged however you see fit. The larger canvases will feature characters and scenes that can be pasted up on the walls!
The other side of the wall/mural, this time featuring a painting of anubis and a painting of papyrus.
My bedroom! Featuring sandstone at the top of the walls in the background, another painting (this one reading Amon-Ra, or 'God'), and yes, a LEOPARD SKIN RUG. Boo-yah. (Made from yellow wool, btw). The blue tiling is made from blue wool.
Endless deserts interspersed by palm trees. Features desert blocks with wavy sand texture.
More screenshots:
Small dwelling plus landscape.
More landscape
An example of red wool tiling.
The iron door has been changed to an immobile stone door.
An entryway showcasing my version of the wooden door and a painting made to look like an egyptian sun.
Papyrus (wheat soon to be altered as well).
Black Sheep!!
More examples of glass, paintings, wool textures.
Down in a mine
And finally, here is the texture png:
CHANGES PLANNED:
-Turning pigs into wild boars, zombies into mummies, skeletons into undead guards, spiders into black widows, and creepers into....pretend cacti?
-Finish updating the various colors of wool
-Finish hieroglyphs
-Make flowers/pumpkins look a little more desert-like
-Change brick/clay
-Give the inventory/crafting screens an egyptian update
-Update item/weapon/armor sprites
Looking at the terrain.png, I think that you may have mistaken the lever for an 'off torch'. It is somewhat confusing, as the lever is almost identical to the torch except without the glow, and is placed directly beneath the torch on the terrain.png just like the on and off states for the redstone torch.
Still, so far your texture pack is definitely something I would use. I would love to see mobs reskinned as Egyptian gods!
