My modding partner and I have been collaborating on a simple-style texture pack, and we're finally done.
We've replaced almost everything, from textures and items to GUI and mobs, from arrows and armors to boats and minecarts.
We call it Flatland.
The original intention was that every block would just be a single, solid color, but between stone, white/light gray wool, snow and cobblestone that idea went out the window. We've tried to maintain simplicity wherever possible but the blocks that do have more detail are generally the man-made ones.
Leather armor is a weathered suit of equatorial-themed equipment. Golden armor is a literal clownsuit. Arrows are forked (and appear as such in-game). The paintings are all Ruby Quest-themed. We've tried to give the pack its own flavor while still saying super-simple.
You can grab it here! Also, big thanks to kas who made this possible. When we couldn't figure out a simple way to depict an item we often looked to Painterly to see how they did it. The influence can be seen primarily on items.png. We couldn't have done it without you! Or we could have, but it would have looked even worse.
Most of what's here has been done before, no offense intended. Another simplepack is just one more flamebait, for most. However, I do like what you did with the Zombies; they've got a unique look to them. The items.png also has a nice feel to it.
Your textures, however, are a carbon copy of almost every single other simple pack out there, because, quite frankly, you can only make so many monochrome blocks before you get repetition.
Hopefully I'm not being too discouraging, as your items and art both show promise, however, a simple pack is just not going to attract too much attention, since there's so many of them.
you know, theres no point of sharing something that is redundant here already.
It's not redundant. There are many simple texture packs just as there are many "realistic" ones. Each one is different in its own way, and no two are exactly alike. It is those differences, that touch of flavor and aesthetic, that is the entire point of making texture packs in the first place. Otherwise we'd only have three or four, instead of dozens. Everyone's tastes are specific, and the details can make all the difference.
So there is a point in sharing it. And barring needlessly-negative people who hate things that don't even affect them, there's certainly no reason not to share it.

what about insulting pictures of your smug ass all kickin' back after tellin' someone not to be witty at you
this is you by the way
this drawing is what you look like
just in case it's not clear
I must say, this is one of the better simple texture packs. Much of the terrain isn't very original (but what is, really? Certainly not another semi-realistic grass texture that, while different from other semi-realistic grass textures, has nothing actually new), but beds and sandstone are quite interesting, and I like that the items are custom rather than a simplified version of the originals.
needlessly-negative people who hate things that don't even affect them
said the guy who shits on everyones criticism and opinions on the pack.
i never said i dont like it, in fact, this is a nice texturepack, its one of the 'simple' packs i would download, and there arent many of them. i was just pointing out that the second poster, who was very nice and also right, its a great items.png, but the terrain looks really generic.
but thats your thing, no one is going to stop you.
since you cant handle decent criticism:
the creeperface on the bed looks wrong.
the stonesword (or stonehammer, for this one) looks too flat.
the mossy cobble looks out of place.
the paintings dont really fit, but thats because i dont know what they are.
the dyes look... weird.
there, i hope thats what you wanted.
no need for all that hate. no one is here to insult you. no need to insult us.

You are right
I withdraw my needlessly-sarcastic comment and apologize for the offense
Here's a birthday cake so we can be friends even though it's very unlikely that today is your birthday
Since the old paintings didn't fit the theme...
Here's a new update with full custom "simple" paintings to replace kz.png. Landscapes, adventure scenes, and monsters kickin' back.
Choclatey..I love you man..no homo..well..not much.. -smirk- you are on a roll... and you actually got a compliment(kinda) out of fandan on a simple pack..damned impressive
edit: and is it just me or are a lot of modders stepping over into our texture pack world lately? lol
Ok, now this makes my simple texture pack look like poo, thanks :sad.gif:

I am aware it is not the only simple texture pack to be made.
But your insightful criticism has been duly noted
whoops how did that get there

Curse Premiumedit: and is it just me or are a lot of modders stepping over into our texture pack world lately? lol
Hopefully we can put that all behind us and enjoy another forgettable low-detail texture pack.
