16x • Beta 1.5! • APE Virtu-Realistic Pack • (v0.7)
ATTENTION: If you think certain blocks that are still default texture needs to be changed, PLEASE post here saying what you think should be done. I am actively looking to update this texture pack but I need feedback from people! Thanks everyone :]
Hello everyone, this texture pack originated around the idea of bringing more realism into the game without going to an HD texture size. So I used all the basic textures of the game, and edited the ones that I wanted to change and got this pack as a result. I use this personally, because it is to my taste. Some people might not like it, some people will. I'm fine with constructive criticism either way. I hope everyone enjoys this texture pack as much as I do!
NOTE: If you use this pack, please give me credit. If you distribute this pack, please give me credit. You may not distribute this commercially. Any edits must have me referenced as original creator of this pack. Please do not edit it like crazy, I don't want a billion copies of my work out there.
I am going to continue updating this pack as I see fit. Feel free to message me any suggestions or requests or post them on this thread. This is the official thread for apengstrom's Realistic 16x Texture Pack, for Survival Multiplayer Minecraft.
This pack has a custom water texture. You must use xau's HD texture fix to enable use of the custom water texture. Visit this thread to get his program, mcpatcher. Instructions for using it are on that thread.
I'm not going to give a detailed tutorial on how to install custom textures, there are plenty of threads around that do just that. Give the forum a look-through and you will find what you need.
I guess after playing for so long with the reddish, orangish, yellowish hues and colors in the game that I just wanted a break. lol.
I am *considering* making copies of the pack to include changes for color theme. For instance, a pack based on blue colors (blue bed, crafting box, etc.)
So on and so forth. Let me know what you think. :smile.gif:
I hope to release v0.2 tonight, though it will only include a few changes. I will also be smoothing out some tiled textures, like wood, stone, etc. Anything that looks very cruddy when many blocks are put together.
I am also including in the readme and the first post above that mcpatcher is also needed to see animated fire, as I am not including any custom fire textures at this time since they aren't really needed that bad.
Loving it, I really love the water. I cant wait for the warmer one though, not that I don't love this 1 lol. Could you possible make a ALT to the windows, like a more smoother one would be amazing! here ya go.
very nice! i like the appeal of being smooth but also having that depth of detail. maybe could you have a screenshot of every block? and a screenshot of the items.png?
I am looking into making a short tutorial on how to change sky and fog colors, I would love to figure this out to help benefit this texture pack, because it would definitely add to the game.
I have a few changes coming- Mossy cobble, smoothing out the windows, changed foliage and grass gradients, changing iron/gold/diamond blocks, new clay color to reflect what real clay would look like (to solve the question of how gray clay turns into red bricks!), and a few other changes...
I am looking forward to releasing this by the end of this week, with more changes than both previous versions!
