This a fast remake of the minecraft defualt texturepack so the normal world look like the nether and the nether the normal world!
Great work. I tried to do this but the task of turning the 3 netherblocks into the gajillion real world blocks was too much work. i only did about half, you're welcome to copy both my ideas and my textures as I'll never finish this.
There's also this one by FMJ, but it'd be best to check with him wherther you can use some of his ideas. (Like the glowstone trees, those are pretty neat, especially when combined with the Glowing Trees mod.)

Not sure if you've done this already and I haven't tried it, but have you replaced the water texture that gets overlaid on your vision when you're underwater? I can't remember where it is but there's a picture called 'water'. You should replace it with a more lava-y picture.

You should try find the actual water/lava pictures as the ones in the texture file are outdated.
