And a lightstone/glowstone that might be better for both camps, the ones that like the classic and the ones that liked the fancy one! Still needs better shading but I think you get the idea :smile.gif:
cobble is looking really nice and that glowstone looks cool :tongue.gif:
oh and thanks, i think i will have a look at one of the guides, i didnt realise how unprepared i am until i asked how to make one on that post before :s
*goes on the hunt for a guide*
cheers guys :smile.gif:
Yea, I had the link a little while ago but I lost it :sad.gif:
Thanks for the compliments sheep... especially the planks :wink.gif: I can never make good planks! Also, love the new glowstone!
Cobble is also looking great :wink.gif:
P.S: Still have any screenis of your super secret 32x pack?
No worries!
Yea, I'll get some screenies as soon as I get rid of all the john smith stuff in the pack and replace it with default :tongue.gif:
I just prefer to play with it if all the textures are done in a 32x pack... default textures stick out like a sore thumb....
No idea, it was a random one... you can download my world at the bottom of the OP though. That canyon should be very, very easy to find!
Ok guys, Aether mod is out and it's so full of win I'm going to officially support my first mod!
Might take a while due to the huge amount of blocks in the mod, but hey, totally worth it! :biggrin.gif:
Well I finished them (I had placed them a little wrong) but with the whole Aether mod thing I might now be delayed o wo
I'm having a lot of fun with it so far apart from those stupid zephyr things.... their spawn rate is bugged so they constantly send you flying back down to the normal world... bit annoying... :dry.gif:
The mod is great though, definitely worth the wait.
Yea, at the moment the only thing holding it back is the spawn rate of zephyrs. As soon as spawn rates for things get fixed, it will just be....... elbkwcbacbluowefuo;iewafeo;hawufo;we (AKA, AWESOME! :biggrin.gif:)....
Hey Sheep, you said you would make a quick update a while ago. When exactly will you? I don't mean to rush you or anything so yeah. BTW, the aether mod is awesome isn't it? :smile.gif:
It's out? Woah, thought the day would never come! Still not sure what it is tho lol...but good luck at texturing all of the blocks, it's gonna take a while :tongue.gif:
It is gonna take a while but I think it'll be worth it. It's a great mod! :biggrin.gif:
I actually want to texture a few more mods as well... (such as some of the ones in the YogsBox because it's an awesome compilation)
What's happening to me?!?!
I'll release the update today. I planned to yesterday or even the day before that but my friends decided to come over so I didn't have any time!
Anyways, today with nice cobble, moo, sweet lightstone andddddddddddddddddd fixed water flow! :smile.gif:

Sheep, how do you make the distinction between a RPG pack, and any more realistic pack? There seems to be a great, obvious distinction that everyone is aware of, except me! I have been working on a texture pack, but I'm not sure if it's an RPG, or just an odd pack that I think looks good. What is the criteria that an RPG pack needs to fit?

To be honest I have absolutely no idea.... I do know that RPG packs aren't really 'realistic' as such, more a stylized take on realism. Most RPG's tend to be a bit darker that normal textures but that's not ALWAYS the case...
I'm also not really sure why packs are called RPG packs unless they are based off an actual RPG. (role playing game)
My RPG variant for example has nothing to do with any RPG, I just called it that because it felt like it fulfilled that name... :tongue.gif:
Having trouble making the 'ripple' match the ripples in the water. It's a lot of work changing it all and so far haven't found an easy way to do it!
EDIT: Going to bed now so I won't release the update until tomorrow because I also want to finish off the inventory gui and a couple more blocks (stone and ores) for the Aether mod. Night guys!
Your textures are, far and away, the most beautiful Minecraft textures around. They actually add a very distinctive charm to the game that I sorely miss whenever an update comes out. Congratulations and thanks.
Also, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask: do you have a tutorial of sorts anywhere or would you consider making one to walk aspiring but inexperienced texture artists through your process? I'd be very interested to see how the magic happens.

Well I don't have a tutorial but I found the best way to learn how to make a texture pack is to have a look at a whole bunch of packs textures up close in paint.net or something. It can also provide inspiration.
This link here is a very good tutorial and I used these techniques when making my latest cobble texture (which in my opinion, looks awesome :smile.gif:)
Anyways, I'm glad you like the pack! It's people like you that are the reason I continue to make it. (and it's quite fun, but yea, beside the point...) If I do ever make a tutorial I shall post a link here in this thread and keep a link up in the OP so it's easy to find. No promises though because maintaining this pack AND my other pack which has been very neglected as of late, it a lot of work.
Thanks again!
hey i read that you arent sure how to do the flow from ripple to moving water
take a look at the wayukian pack, it seems to have pretty similar water to yours and i do believe that the ripples match the movements of the water
just to get ideas of course :smile.gif:
Oh no, the animation itself is perfect, it's just the ripple colour is too white when it should have a tint of blue. Changing that small part is quite hard. :dry.gif:
Thanks for the help though!
Any updates on my custom skin? Sorry to ask I am just really needing it for my videos (I tried doing it myself but I'm terrible at doing it with 16x16 so I'm wondering how I get it to be 32x32+). Thanks again (:
Yea, it will be done probably today. I was just trying to make sure it's the latest version of my pack so it will have the new cobble, the cow, proper water flow, etc. :tongue.gif:
Also, don't worry about being insistent, I've been pretty lax about making textures this past week! Playing minecraft instead of texturing minecraft. Nice break though!
