Ok so i have the problem with downloading texture packs. I download them, open WINrar, open minecraft.jar with WINrar, move texturepack.rar into minecraft.rar, but it simply doesnt work. And i dont want to have to re-install minecraft because im loving my world now. Can any1 plz help me. If i rly have to delete minecraft i will but can some1 tell if there is any way i can save my world?
P.S. i couldnt find any guides and anything i found online it just told me to do the above.
P.S.S. Plz dont hate on me cause im fairly new to the game and to the website.
You have to put the texturepack.zip into your texture pack folder which is located in appdata/roaming/minecraft. Also make sure you do not unzip the file, leave it as an archive.
You can also open minecraft and press "mods and texture packs" then press "open texture pack folder" then drag and drop your .zip file into that folder. (Its an easier way to get to your .minecraft folder)
OK. Thanks. I wanted to know because there is a cool texture pack, but it's a .rar file. Now, what will happen if I put a folder in there instead of a .zip file? And I do have WinRAR.

Try extracting them with WinRAR or some other archiving program, then look for the pack inside.
Many packs (such as mine) come in compressed folders, but the ACTUAL pack is INSIDE the folder.
