The flesh-covered spikes of the Behemoth were the last thing you remember....
Those who saw the sky thought it was simply a meteor, but the questions of it's nature and origin only intensified as it approached. There was no crater when it finally fell, only a wave of violet frothy slime that devoured all matter, both organic and inorganic with fierce voracity. It spread from city to city, bone spikes rending the earth as it's meaty flesh drank deep the oceans and it's life.
In a matter of weeks, all was Behemoth.
When you awoke, the world had changed. Had you been spared the beast-world's hunger? Or were you perhaps a fragmented memory, dwelling within the odd parasitic creatures that populated the surface of this living world. Oceans of blood lapped at scab-laden shores, while mockeries of trees spewed their purple resin all along the surface, both nourishing and protecting the monstrous planet's surface. The resin though would prove useful when extracted from the tree-like Respout's thick flesh, forming the basis for the construction of crude tools.
In the depths of the winding orifices and cavities within Behemoth, the bloated world provided an unexpected wealth of useful minerals in the form of teratoma that swelled so fast they pierced the beast's bone. Blackened tumors that were high in fire-generating phosphorus, bronze bits of metal that jutted from extraneous stomachs, superfluous jawbones filled with shiny metallic teeth, even fully developed eyes and brain matter could find their purpose with the cunning survivor.
Mockeries of life populated the surface of the world, from the odd blue Leechuus that supped on the violet resin to the flesh-fowl who's wishes for flight were woefully impossible. Nighttime brought about more insideous terrors like the giant ticks that crawled endlessly over the world's surface. And then there were the malevolent virus-men, impossibly lean sentient germs that would infect any they came across.
The world you knew is gone, now there is only Behemoth.
Will you adapt or become just another meal for the beast?

NOTE: This is a texture pack that changes the overall shape of various items into things that function more with the theme. Beginners might have a tough time telling what things are functionally (like purple blobs are sticks and wiry yellow strands for redstone).
I've been in kind of a funk lately, looking for a job and whatnot. Found some time to throw together another terrain if you want to keep things up to date. Includes jungles infested with parasitic eye-vines, new lurelamps that can be crafted, and wood now comes in three new colors; vibrant red, asphyxiated blue, and putrescent green.
There's also a few more items, such as tree spleens (that fit in a bit better then apples) and chuckable eggs complete with splash.
Still trying to figure out what to do with ocelots that's not a ripoff of alien.
I like what your doing with the terrain work and the plants like trees and sugar cane, but the ores look kind of silly compared to the delightfully creepy nature of the rest of the textures. If you could find some way to make them a bit more biotic looking (say having them bleed instead of crumble as you break them) and refine some of the textures a bit this could be really good.
Hope this helped a bit, and good work so far :smile.gif:
Far too purple. People's insides range from orangey-cream to brown and grey etc.
Oesophagus.
Also veins aren't actually blue.
Truth is the planet does have some alien qualities, what with purple slime replacing grass. I suppose I could try to replace it with skin of some sort. Most of the 'dirt' blocks are to represent muscle tissue, while the purple is some kind of life-sustaining parasitic resin used for toolmaking. It is a little esoteric I suppose, once I update again I'll throw up some kind of story or explanation.
Either way, if I try going with a creme color for dirt I run the risk of it either blending too much into bone or becoming too pink. But I'll see what I can do.

Hm, noted. Think I should make them more like the Lapis ore? I added a bit of slime around the eyes to blend it in better. Gold and Iron are supposed to be like metal grafts into bone, while redstone is neruo fiber. I'm not sure if any of that noticable though. And yes, the bleeding/opening of sores does sound like a good idea.
Edit: Added liquid broth beds and bleeding destruction animation. I'll try to work on sky later, but for some reason even after the patcher custom lava and water won't show for me
I appreciate everyone's comments and support thus far, Thank you very much.
What are you going to make bedrock? Or better yet, you should make the trees be eyestalks. If a .gif is possible, a blinking eye would work well for the leaves.

I haven't really thought about what to do with bedrock really. Maybe heart tissue (would be cool if it could palpatate)? I think between lapis lazuli, the furnace and red flowers, my pack has enough eyeballs to satisfy even the most demanding eyestalk lover. Though this does give me an idea for pine needles...
But i have been trying to think of what to do with birch and pine bark textures for trees though. Seems a waste to just use a similar bark texture.
Dang, really wish I hadn't procastinated on this (I had an idea to do something very similar a while ago, but I was only planning out stuff by then, had trees, leaves, dirt, grass, rock and quite a few other things) But that was before even the nether.
But anyway seems pretty nice, what are rock/cobble supposed to be there?
EDIT: Nvm, bone I'm guessing?

I now have the urge to methodically rip the world apart thanks to the story. =p Unique pack, kind of repulsive though, I would never sleep again if my bed was like that..... (downloads anyway)

Ever hear footsteps in your mines, even when you are perfectly still?
Thanks for all the great input so far everyone. There are a couple of things I'm stuck on.
1. If the slime and everything really doesn't look so good purple, what color could I possibly replace it with that would blend well with all the red?
2. Which would you rather see; different colors of wool being used to simulate (squarish) organs or gaseous tumors of different hues?
3. I saw someone mentioned coloring the sky a dismal smoggy yellow, but I noticed Last Days did something similar. Any thoughts about what to do with clouds/sky?

Edit: Included a tormented blister-beast covered in hideous growths that come in a variety of colors, as well as two new bark and one new pine-leaf textures. I did some work with some yellow slime for snow. Definitely don't eat it.
Edit: Renamed most of the items in the game, and also tried to change the sky. For some reason, it won't let me see it even if I have the patcher installed though, so if anyone's having problems let me know.
question: wouldnt the biomegrasscolor make all the purple grasssurfaces green?
One would think so, but as it stands it seems to tone down the purple color on the face of grass and trees. I think it looks pretty good for the ground, giving it sort of a thicker texture, but the trees do seem a bit weird with it. I've thought about loosing the purple for the slime, but I can't think of an appropriate color to replace it with that still retains an alien tone while looking somewhat appealing to the eye.

how do you tell normal ores apart?
