Customized Painterly. The ease of customizing is something I really like. It's almost as if I have my own TP, without going through and editing textures manually. And it's 16 x 16 like default, so it doesn't seem jarringly out of place like pretty much every higher res TP out there does. :ohmy.gif:)
Plus, grass and leaves can be biome compliant, meaning they'll still change with the biomes. That's pretty sweet.
I used to use Brown&Bloom, but the originator stopped updating it a few patches back :sad.gif:
Now I use the Quandary Reborn pack. The link is even in my sig because I like it so much! There's nothing too fancy about it, just the colors are a bit richer and the water is a lighter blue.
Though mostly, I use my own 64x64 HD pack that I haven't released (yet). I am quite impressed with the steam punk pack. I borrowed a few blocks from it and re-did them at 64px for mine.

I will periodically switch between Short Stuff's Clean Design pack, and the Axepack by Axebane. The Axepack isn't updated terribly frequently, so sometimes I will switch in order to not have broken art in game.
I use my own texture pack, Ripclonian. I dislike painterly because it's overused and it's too easy to make one. I also dislike "simple" packs because it looks like a 2 year old played on paint. (No offense to anyone who makes simple packs)
I switch between GirlCraft, the Cel Pack, and the one I'm working on. Obviously I don't care for realism, heh.

I might be getting pulled out of my Korean class to restart again in anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months down the road. If that happens, I'll have all sorts of time on my hands once again and I'll be finishing my Cel-Pak: Pastel Pak, which is basically The Cel-Pak meets GirlCraft.
I'll also be doing a Cel-Pak meets Aza's Arid pack (with "realistic"/"dry"-looking colors), and an HD Cel-Pak (tried making one a few months ago and it was terrible, but I've learned a lot more since then).

The problem isn't simple packs necessarily, but that most people making them miss the point entirely. Their packs lack inspiration You have to have artistic inspiration to make a good simple texture pack.
In the meanwhile, my favourite packs? I pretty much exclusively use The Cel-Pak. I HAVE been known to occasionally use a couple others, though. EldPack, a custom low-res Aza's Arid pack, and one other that I'm drawing a blank on.

My humble LPs can be found here.

Let us pray. Bless us, O Notch, and these, thy Updates, which we are about to receive for thy Game. Through Jeb, our Dev. Amen.
I like smooth simple ones.
I'm thinking about just making my own, or at the very least, customizing one to my liking.
