This is still my favorite Texture Pack. However, I liked the dirt texture from v0.5 much better. Also, the sidegrass looked more grown into the soil. The v0.7 dirt texture is too dark for my taste and the sidegrass looks kinda like hair.
I replaced the three textures that contain dirt with the v0.5 ones, enjoy:
Ovo, please let me know if this redistribution is against your will, if so I will remove the download immediately.
No problem, thanks for those who prefer the old dirt. I should setup Flying Sheep's customizer someday.

Hey I have a question i downloaded this and now my Toomanyitems mod doesnt work anything i can do?
It can't be because of the texture pack itself. Maybe a conflict with the HD patcher, try to reinstall your mods on a fresh minecraft.jar, the HD patch first.

nice if you can change it.
Not planned but give me details on what you don't like and/or would like instead. Just saying "I don't like it" doesn't help much

If this is really hand-painted, then you are a god.
I'm making a 32x32 hand-painted texture pack because i think its easier than 64x64. Im having alot of problems with the colors and drawing lines the right way so they look like the meant block. Have you got any tips for me?
I don't have any particular technique, the main points are: training your drawing skills and using a pen tablet. As for the colors, you could pick them from another pack that's got them right. Without seeing what you do I can't give you more advice.

Great idea - but please be sure to use something that supports IE9. His tool is great but IE9 users can't use it. :sad.gif:
Other way around. It's IE9 that isn't properly supporting the customizer. IE has never programmed their browsers in compliance with the actual internet standards so stuff is constantly just not working, even though it should be just fine.
For someone to fix it for use in IE9 they would probably have to recode the whole thing with a lot of fixes which I'm not sure even exist for IE9 yet. :/
Ovo, I like the idea of having a customizer. :3
And about the tablet use,.. You have a very nice style. Are you drawing directly onto the 64x texture size or larger blocks and then resizing?

True - regardless, my issue is that I cannot use the tool in IE9. I don't have a problem doing the cut-and-paste myself but tools like this are so handy.

Secondly you could just install another browser. I always have at least two browsers installed on my system (Chromium and IE) and installing a second one won't kill you.
Thirdly you could simply use a more popular browser if you run into problems with your current one.
I am sick and tired of having to install multiple applications that all do the same thing, just on the odd chance that this one or that might or might not work here or there.
IE has generally done fine for me all along - I've tried Chrome, don't like it quite as much - primarily due to the toolbars but also because of Google's desire to sneak shovelware in with their updates.
Regardless of personal preference, my original comment was more to illustrate IE9's ubiquity and to note that many users may be using that browser and will thus encounter compatibility issues.

Yeah, I'm used to dealing with IE's noncompliance to standards... I'll fix the customizer if I can.
Still, I encourage people to use libre browsers like Firefox. Google Chrome is neat and all but spying on you.

Yes, directly in 64x. Textures with transparency require pixel precision and it's easier to manage overall.
Just finished wheat :smile.gif:

See above. Chromium only updates when you actually download an update yourself.
Which is why we can't promote Chromium, nobody wants to update manually but updating is vital to security and the web's evolution. Chromium is primarily made by Google, their goal is to advertise their proprietary software (see chromium.org, they make you think Chromium is only for developers) while using the work of benevolents and gaining the sympathy of the open source community.

wow this pack is beautiful and may be the 1st one that will make me swap from a custom gerudoku style i've had for so long. Added the banner to support you and a quick question, will custom paintings come too making this a full pack?
Thanks for your comment and support !
I'd like to do custom paintings but it's definitely at the bottom of the priorities list as it's time consuming and the HD version of the default painting is ok.

Hey I was looking at the customizer thingy and playing with it, I liked the idea of the wood planks being a mix of light and dark, makes it seem much more rustic and real world to me, as well as a bit more worn and weathered like wood should look.
Maybe we can find some existing art that is suitable to your theme until such time as you can do an art sheet?
Maybe but I bet it will be hard to find freely redistribuable paintings in the first place. This can be a project for the artists guild as it can help many texture pack makers to have a few premade art compilations to choose from or links to libre art ressource.

It doesn't seem especially more rustic to me but yes, it would be nice to have something like that as an alternative.

Well, it may not be "rustic", but I have an art pack in the 64x resolution that you are welcome to use. To the best of my knowledge, the images are of works that are in the public domain, so to speak.
Many other packs to choose from at this thread. Meanwhile, I'll try to find the time to look for more "rustic" and perhaps well-known works like American Gothic. I have always felt that an appropriate art pack helps to enhance the design style of a texture pack.

Hey ovo, I really love this pack. Could I maybe use it as a base for a mix up of texture packs? I wouldn't be taking credit at all. I just really love your textures and I know of some others that greatly compliment your work. Maybe I could even help advertise your pack? ^.^ Thanks -Hawke Btw love the pack, diamonds for you
Aren't you the guy that just put me down in Sparx' thread? And now you're asking my friend if you can use his textures?
It's his call, but you haven't exactly made yourself a freind of the texturing community by standing with Sparx.
While I respect you may be RL friends with Ovo (if that's true), get off your high horse please. I'm tired of reading through this thread and seeing you bash anyone you don't agree with. Stop white knighting. Also, if my mother can learn to use Firefox, so can you.
On topic - loving the pack still - found some decent item/mob stand-ins while I wait but the terrain is amazing so far :smile.gif:

Sorry for putting you down. I was trying to support my friend. I know he should have asked permission but I just wanted to help out. I'm making a mix up texture pack but I firmly intend to ask each artist permission for using their work. I don't plan to edit the terrain files or alter them in any way. I'm not going to take credit for anything. I just pick out my favorite textures and mix them to show how if artists work together and collaborate. It can create something amazing and interesting. I've known Sparx for quite awhile and I try to agree with him on most things. Sorry for pissing off the texture pack community.

Such as? That's a rather broad generalization, don't you think?
Also, if my mother can learn to use Firefox, so can you.
I know how to use it - I simply don't want to, nor should I need to. You may be content having several applications that each do more or less the same as all the others - I prefer to stick with one. What's your problem with that?

I accept your apology and commend you for your loyalty. Perhaps tyou can get the point across to him.
No one's trying to trash the guy, we're just telling him that there's a right way and a wrong way to go about this. You're doing it the right way - he's clinging to the wrong way at the cost of alienating the very community that would otherwise be an asset to him.
The people that I'm closest to on this forum are those who've shown a willingness to work together, a respect for their peers and the work they've done, and a spirit of empathy and encouragement. We need more people like that around here.
People who take liberties with others' work don't often realize that they discourage further work from the very artists from whom they take. After all, who wants to put in all that time and effort, only to have someone else bundle it up and slap their own name on it?
I think most people would be hard-pressed to find my attitude on the matter unreasonable in the least. Yet there are still those who do. Not coincidentally, most of those are people who don't understand the work it takes, because they have never done it.
Glad we could come to an understanding. We now return you to the awesome texture pack thread, already in progress.
