Long time player/lurker, first time poster. This is still a work in progress, but I have all the blocks done, so I thought I'd get some feedback on it. I'm staying close to default Minecraft style, but with better visibility (more distinctive ores, outlines on blocks to make depth perception a lot better, and things like that) as well as more cuteness. I took some inspiration from GirlCraft (great pack, by the way), although I didn't quite go that far, heh.
Looks pretty good! I would get rid of the borders on some of the blocks though, I think they don't really work with the style your looking for. Have a diamond
Which ones? I think most of the blocks look good with borders, and that's part of the main style I was going for, so it seems weird that a block with a border would go against that, heh. I'm also going for functionality over looks, and I've found that having a border on blocks really helps with determining what shape an object is or how far away it is. I'm sure you've had times when you walk off an edge in a cave because the standard rock texture is so one-colored.
Thanks for the comment, though!
I use the same base texture for all the stone-based things, just with the individual ores drawn on top of them. They're all just some basic shapes with a few Photoshop layer styles applied to them, really. All these textures were done from scratch in Photoshop in just about two days, so it's nothing too complicated. (I could even upload the PSD if anyone's really interested, although it's kind of a mess.)
Perhaps you should remove borders from blocks that don't necessarily need them, like the leaves, or at least make the borders more subtle for those kind of blocks. I really like the idea for using the same shapes on the ore and pure mineral blocks; the diamond moon blocks look especially fantastic!
Leaves actually only have a border on Fast graphics mode, since otherwise it blended together way too much. On Fancy graphics, they're partly see-through like in the normal texture pack and don't have a border either. Also, I'm probably just going to make an alternate version of this pack without borders, since most people seem to dislike them, even though I personally find them really helpful without being distracting.
Thanks for everyone trying it out! I'm working on the GUI and creatures now, and I know what I'm going to do for the paintings as well.
