First, my apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere - my searching didn't turn up any relevant info.
So, on with it, then...
I'm trying to work with grasscolor/foliagecolor, and I have a general idea of how they work, but I'm having difficulty getting it to look right. So here's the questions:
1) Can someone provide better specifics on how these images are used to determine biome shading?
2) Can someone detail a technique to create grasscolor/foliagecolor images that will actually work right (instead of giving me a very gray, washed out hue)... I'm familiar with Photoshop, but I'm far from an expert.

I think this is what you are looking for. Even gives a quite tutorial on which areas correspond to which environment.
