A NEWER VERSION OF THIS TEXTURE PACK CAN BE FOUND HERE
This texture pack was originally spawned when I was curious as to what the game would look like if only solid colors were used for each block. Obviously that didn't work out too well, but it did produce interesting results, and the result eventually morphed into Softcraft. Softcraft was designed with a single thing in mind: Simplification. The textures are as simple as possible while still being both identifiable and not losing their original purpose or feel. And yes, I realize it may be hard to differentiate between the block at first, but given a bit of time you shouldn't have any problem identifying a certain block. Keep in mind, I'm no artist (in fact I'm quite the butcher when it comes to even drawing a straight line), so this pack isn't meant to be artsy in any way, simply pleasing to whoever enjoys the effect.
Note: Only use this texture pack if you have "Smooth Lighting" set to "ON" in your video settings (BetterLight), without it this texture pack will turn into a sort of puzzle or maze due to the blending of one layer to the next.
Installation:
First, Download Softcraft from the link above. Second, you'll need to place it in the Texture Packs folder, this can be achieved by opening up Minecraft, clicking on "Mods and Texture Packs" (found in the main menu), and clicking on the left button "Open texture pack folder" , then simply place Softcraft.zip in the folder. No need for an HD patcher or anything of the likes, since this is only a 16x16. Although if you DO, in fact, use Xau's HD Texture Fix to install the pack, you'll be able to use the custom water and lava (nothing spectacular, but I prefer it to the default).
Still to be addressed:
-Redstone dust looks terrible (can't be fixed since it is controlled by the game engine as of Beta 1.3).
-Really bad lighting artifacts are present on trees. -Sandstone is the same as sand. -Cactus improvements
-Flower/Mushroom improvements -Pumpkins in general -TNT -The angled portion of the minecart track. -GUI issues/improvements -Add mobs -Add items

I'm not sure if you're referring to just the name, or the actual SimpleCraft texture pack, so I'll Address both. It's called Softcraft since I just feel like it give the world a "softer" feel. It's quite different from SimpleCraft (the texture pack). First off, it has no borders, many of the textures are different and basically all of the textures are different in terms of color.
I like this a lot, but the only thing keeping me from using this as my full time texture pack is the tnt and some of the other blocks you addressed. But I will be defiantly keeping an eye on this one

Glad to hear you like it! I wasn't really sure what to do with TNT, which is why it remains that dull red color, but once I can get something to click, I'll change it as fast as I can.
Haha, and I thought I was being original when I made a one-texture-per-most-blocks texture pack.
I do like this though, and luckily the three different one-texture-per-most-blocks texture packs floating around have some crucial differences; mine is very faithful to the more complicated blocks, yours has more original elements and most of the colors used are different, and the other one (I think it's Douxcraft) has similar differences.
Did you ever have any other ideas for a name for this? I still need a proper name for my texture pack, and I'd appreciate some help.
I think you should put a boarder in some blocks... The grass looks like one if your looking from a hill :/
Personally, I don't have much of a problem seeing from one layer to the next, but at times, yes it's pretty hard to tell. I apologize, but in order to remain faithful to the theme of the texture pack, it's going to stay the way it is.

I actually hadn't seen your texture pack until just now, I quite like it. It's funny how an attempt to make something as simple as possible can create two still quite different texture packs.
As for naming, I hadn't really though about anything other than Softcraft other than the fact that the one-texture look kind gives Minecraft a Super Mario 64 look though, but I thought "Soft" served a tad better.
UPDATE 1.0.1:
-TNT has been given a Makeover, a bit more appealing now, quite similar to the default look.
-Changed the color of gravel, it was a bit too close to sand and didn't look right anyway.
-Entirely new bookshelf, similar to default, it looked stupid before.
-Fixed the cactus and reeds.
-Ladder rungs are now twice as thick.
-Re-added the default crops since I'd removed them inadvertently.
-Pumpkins have been altered, more detail on the sides and top.
-Attempted to fix the angled minecart track, still needs to be changed.
-Sandstone is now textured and doesn't look like sand anymore.
-Added Sun/Moon
-Added minecart/boat/sign
UPDATE 1.0.2: -Added Items (just a slight recolor for now, not very noticeable) -Added Mobs (made to look as simple as possible)
-Bricks now look like bricks
-Attempted to fix flowers and saplings
-Bedrock is a bit lighter since straight black caused lighting issues.
-Minecart tracks are outlined in black, they stand out better and it just looks better in my opinion.
-The curve in the minecart track is now fixed.
