This is a really nice texture pack.
I especially like the creepers.

The reason I didn't like the default painting set was because it didn't suit the texture pack. The paintings you picked out are nice, but they don't fit the feel of the texture pack anymore than the default ones do. Ideally, I would like it if you created the painting specifically for Minecraft just like you did the GUI.
Oh I'm much much too lazy and crappy to try to do that. Animating water and fire and lava in 16x is alot easier for me than trying to paint something that isn't a hideous mess in 16x. (hence why I did such a simple texture pack) Pixel art has never really been my forte.

Have you ever considered making your own music? You have a great taste for it, and making music can be a form of art too.
I have made my own music.
Back when I was a stupid teenager.
It is online and I will link you to it but as a forewarning: it is a din of ****. A cacophony of the worst sounds that fruity loops was ever unintended to produce from it's vile bowels. Truly the most wretched form of 'music' ever that has caused many a person and beast to clutch their eyes in pain and gnash their teeth and pray to unutterable things that they were never borne upon this tainted sphere of a planet.
You can listen to it here and here and if you hate mario games, then mamma mia.
See what I hath inflicted upon the world of sound? I hath taken the soul of music and ravaged its innocent flesh against it's will and laughed over the bleeding husk of what once we held dear as "tunage" with tears of black streaming from mine ears.
In short: i would not recommend clicking those because they eat scrote.

Hey man, love the texture pack! It's the only one I use now. But I was wondering how I could "patch" it into minecraft. I want to be able to see the colored trees and custom water/lava. Thanks for making an awesome texture pack
You need to use MCPATCHER, my diminutive purveyor of bovine extract! Truly the greatest piece of modding technology for a game designed around 16bit cubes. Now easier to use than ever before! GASP as it allows you to use custom animated water. SHOCK as it lets you change texture packs on the fly. GAPE as it allows you to use HD texture packs with ease.
As an added bonus it also allows for animated lava and........FIRE?
- redesigned the zombie a teeny tiny bit more
- CUSTOM ANIMATED FIRE thanks to the mcpatcher update. here have a quick poorly looping preview gif that I shot on site with a camera, sony vegas, and one of the local savages as my guide:
-
also important:
- inside the new zip you may notice 2 alternative terrain files. When activated these produce a blinding flash of light and a scent much like pecans. As the smoke clears you may notice everything seems a bit....bumpier....perhaps shinier? Almost....specular some may say.
I decided today to make parallax and specular maps for this texture pack.
"you are a madman sir. a fool! nobody does these for 16x texture packs because they look like ****"
I INTEND TO DISPROVE THIS. I will probably fail. But by God, I will try.
Sadly right now, the GLSL shader mod is not functioning for version 1.5
So until that is updated I won't know just how fubar I did these shader files. However, I think they might look really nice and sharp.
But once again, can't be sure until I can activate them properly. Soon though.
Psst...
You accidentally put the fire.gif instead of the pack in the link. Fix it while no one is looking. Ill cover you. *makes complicated military hand gestures* Zeta team go. tehehehe

I guess I was too busy raging at the new soldier rocket launcher in tf2 to notice what I was doing!

You can re-size the painting space and make it very large just like you can do with the terrain.png, and it won't cause any bugs or damage the 16px aspect I'm pretty sure (many other 16px texture packs have done it), but if you don't feel like doing it then it doesn't matter. Do it when you feel like it, or never do it. Up to you. :smile.gif:

Like most shaders, these screen shots dont do them justice. Fluid movement is the way these are meant to be seen and enjoyed. But here are some quick screens i took of the new specular zekocraft textures. Had to revert to 1.4 in order to take these as GLSL isnt updated yet. Anywho... here they are for your enjoyment. They didnt turn out half as bad as i thought.
the sun was directy over head for this one
when i saw the sand at first it looked like poop. then the sun set and the moon came out....
sand started to shimmer in the moonlight. my jaw dropped.
xD, Zeko, i'm randomly going to say, I ****ing love you, references and all. You make me laugh. And yes, that's the first thing i'm going to say on this thread, because being blatantly random is fun, if there's one thing I've learned from you.

I know for a fact that resizing the terrain.png and not using mcpatcher ****s this game up pretty good. Like injecting air into an artery.
However if you can find proof that resizing the paintings file won't screw up anything, than I might go ahead and redo the paintings after all.

Interesting.
Bizarre.
Didn't quite come out the way I was hoping at all, but meh. I'll take it. It's a rather interesting look.
When I attempted to get them working last night it caused a strange effect where it was like every texture would fold in on itself once it was at eye level.
Thank you once again, Kingpin! I have sent you a question via PM.
That would be nice if the resizing didn't have an odd AR discombobulation. That is my word for the day lol. Anyway, wouldn't you know it GLSL just got updated. Not a few hours after posting those shader pics. Its like the bird shitting on a freshly washed car, de ja vu, or watching your fav sports franchise on tv only to have them start losing the game. Huzzah GLSL is updated! Huzzah i say.

PS : haven't had time to check out the new fire ani.

Works on my 1.5_01 just fine. Dont see why anyone would update for 1.5 (instead of 1.5_01). Maybe GLSL was mislabeled?
-LK
It works fine.
In fact I've been tooling around with the specular lighting today trying to get it to look less ugly.
Too many things turned WHITE the moment the sun or the moon were above them.
Also amusingly, my minecraft blackscreens when using these mods, STILL. Even with occlusion culling. I just give up. But I did manage to take a couple of screenshots of the parallax mapping before it went pfft. I'll post an update soon with the better maps.
I think it looks pretty nice now.
Your friendly neighborhood Kingpin here...
That really sucks a big whale phallus about your blackscreen crashes. Its like the 1.4 demon had his brother pick up where he left off after the 1.5 update. Ive been a firm believer in lil demons/imps that inhabit all PCs and cause ten kinds of **** for the user. They are related to the gremlins in aircraft.
As for the 'white-out reflection', i honestly thought that might be the way those shaders are intended to work. Ive only ever seen the vid the GLSL thread has posted with the specular and parallax occlusion running. So i had no idea really as what to expect. There arent many packs that have the 2 needed extra terrain files. Just another thing unique about 16x Zekocraft.
BTW the new fire looks so much better than default. i suspect all the major texpack authors are going to start including these, if they haven't already. Hooray for MCpatcher huh ? indeed.

Custom paintings would be a God-send.
Also I redid pretty much all the parallax and specular mapping in today's update.
UPDATE APRIL 28th
changelog:
- redid the parallax mapping
- redid the specular mapping
check out how it looks now (i didnt touch sand, sand came out perfectly)
alot of things now have new patterns when lighting up. grass at night has little flowers on it sand still sparkles in the moonlight I redid how grass height works so now grass is also effected by lighting Ores and metals now glint when exposed to light here's how it all looks together wood planks now overlap on each other and also react to different lighting conditions
Best part is torches in your hand with the GLSL mod now count as dynamic ambient light and cause the textures to light up appropriately as you go along.
But now the lighting looks exactly how I wanted it to look. I always wanted the rocks in caves to glint in the light of torches. And now they do! Hooray!
Anyway this will probably be the last update for a while until Notch adds maps or whatever.

Yes, I realize that not using mcpatcher when you resize the terrain or the gui folder can mess things up pretty bad... but anything else can be resized and still work. In fact, I'll quote XXSheep here:
Quote from XSSheep »
... some things don't have to be that resolution without needing to be patched. I have double resolution particles and have started doing double resolution mobs in my 16x16 pack and it doesn't have any downsides/need patching or anything.
And now I present to you a painting in all its glory:
I used the default textures and simply placed the custom texture inside a new zip folder. I re-sized the image from 256x256 to 512x512, so you can make the painting size even bigger if you prefer.(1024x1024 for example)
I was having black-screen problems for a while myself. My java was up-to-date, but the problem was that I downloaded the version for x32 system instead of x64... if you have a x64 system (most newish computers), then you need to get the proper version. One way of checking is if you have a java folder in "Program Files (x86)" instead of just "Program Files". Apparently when you are asked to download Java, it never tells you that you're actually downloading the wrong one... Remove your other Java and download the one from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (make sure you click the Windows 7, XP Offline (64-bit))
Interesting that GLSL actually does work. I'll have to try out Zekocraft with it. But, just a request, can you make a Modloader wildgrass version of Zekocraft? With the wildGrass folder in the .zip, rather than on the terrain.png? The Modloader terrain always screws up textures for me, such redstone having a Emancipation Grid background.
