Just a little project I was messing around with today. It was super easy to make but as far as I know, I'm the first one that did it (probably because it sucks XD), so here it is.
All it does is cut out the center of dirt, sand, mined and un-mined cobblestone, gravel and bedrock (useless/easy to find materials). There really isn't a purpose for it but I found out that it can be easier to pinpoint underground mines or sometimes minerals.

Overall, there is no purpose to it but I guess it's kind of cool and has its potential for being useful.
I probably won't do anything new with it in the future unless Notch adds new ores or something.
Personally, I really Like it! This would really help with mining and avoiding hazards! Maybe make a separate version with full ore blocks only? I dunno :tongue.gif:

I did it about two months ago. I have three versions, one that is just like this.
Then the one that makes it more transparent on the corners of blocks that you don't need tools to break (this also helps you recognize sand, so you don't get covered in it, and makes it so you don't need torches, because it classifies your blocks into categories by the types of transparency they have) and it makes all valuable blocks visible, with a giant letter on them. So a white background, with a black letter "C" is coal, "i" iron, etc.
And my "diamond edition" which has it so the ONLY solid thing is the diamonds, and I made them white so they are very easy to spot.
I hate the way mine looks though, so if you wanna take my other versions, make your own and put them up, feel free to.
I will say, I think I gave my friend my first version of it, so who knows if he shared it with others... =/

Thanks for the feedback! As of right now, the ores are visible still. All I changed were the dirt, sand, cobblestone, gravel and bedrock.

As for finding diamonds, there are easier ways :tongue.gif:
I think it actually looks pretty cool, perhaps there is some artistic value in making textures like this.
