Discontinued until further notice! New project HERE
This pack (my first) is still a work in progress that began with me having no clue how to do any texture modding, to me teaching myself how via tutorials on Google and on these forums. I have scaled down part of the pack to lower resolutions, and will get the rest done soon. But for now I am releasing all sizes except 256x(buggy as hell) for testing as many people have asked for it. I ran though the lower resolutions on the test track and saw no obvious bugs, but please let me know if you find any.
After spending so much time being active on the forums I noticed just how many people stay away from realistic packs because they stray away from the overall theme of Minecraft being all about blocks. So the idea came to me to properly fuse the two together by making it photo realistic, yet still keeping that theme in mind. Yes the textures would be totally seamless, and some still are but I'm working on that. I know it is long shot, and needs a lot of work, but I wanted to go out on a limb with this and try to please both the HD junkies as well as the purists. Let me know what y'all think.
If y'all see anyone's work I missed, or own it and wish it removed let me know. Some of the stuff I may keep just because I like it, or I don't think I'll ever be able to top it :tongue.gif:
random screens from different stages of completion. The alt wools are still available upon request.
You need to use MCpatcher for this pack, even 16x!
ONLY THE 256x IS UPDATED!!! Don't herp derp "it's not updated" please.

added a test track for the guys at the Texture Artist's Guild...but feel free to snag it! in case it doesn't spawn you there, track is at x518,z-746
Big thanks to Scuttles for all his wonderful help and advice! And thank you to Pazaz for a lot of sound advice, a banner and all the bumps :tongue.gif:..And thanks go to Emperor Penguin and his Banner Shop thread for the wonderful banner at the top
Disclaimer: I am not at all a graphics artist so most of the textures were taken from stock photo's and publicly available textures. I must say thank you(or have said) to all the artists responsible. The custom stuff(ores, workbench, furnace etc.) was just a matter of photo manipulation. Even the flames in the barrels of the dispenser was at one point a photo of the dangerous end of a WW2 era tank barrel..lol this pack just showcases the ease of making one by someone with no experience whatsoever. Just have to have the patience for the tedium involved.

the bricks are screwed..lol just getting an idea of what I wanted...not using until right
EDIT: found better bricks..well, the one with the diamond is a placeholder for now.. cleaned up the ones that were off I hope. the item brick I dont really care about myself...I replace them with decorative textures for my personal pack.
The ores look like they're just protruding out of the stone :/
Try and make it look like they're embedded in it.
took your advice and changed them up...a lot.. took out a lot of the depth and made them not so in your face. I still want to make them look a little more "one with the stone" but as I am completely new to paint.net/graphics design it might take me a bit. I'm pretty happy with them as is tho.
well...the patch kinda killed my momentum with this...got the torch, furnaces, dispenser done right before the patch dropped and all hell broke loose... added in the redstone torches, wire and boxed for teh lulz.. since I cant get screens in game to show them off... here is the first link to whats (almost) set in stone for the pack so far.
-snip- took out the link as it is outdated
it is by no means an official release... but feel free to give it a test run once hd textures are working again and please let me know what you think...even bad reviews help :tongue.gif:
I was about to critique the minerals until I saw the last post. The only thing I have left to say about them is try and soften the edges on the minerals especially the coal and iron.
Making textures seamless are generally a pain to do and try to keep out anomalies that stick out which allows an easy to spot tiling. For example, the glowstone has that dark spot in the bottom which will become quite repetitive.
The pine tree bark seems too much like a rough piece of wood. I'm not quite sure if that was intentional or not.
Now that's out of the way your pack has quite alot of room for potential and you seem to have quite a strive to better it. I really do enjoy your chests/workbenches and your nether world is, well, repulsive in a good way. =D

I totally agree on the bark and glowstone... and I cant quite get the gravel to wrap..but i want white gravel! havent seen it done yet and it looks badass in my multiplayer world. (it has a huge riverbed/lake with a gravel bottom. discovered it last night.) the glowstone is actually one of mine..most of the others are public domain..made sure to search for seamless textures..I suck at graphics design..I am more a pencil and paper kinda guy. and yeah...I dont think strive is the word... more a bipolar compulsion...lol
Edit: you dont even wanna know how long the dirt and grass side view took...omg.. especially the snowy dirt... photorealistic is ffin hard!

finally got in to test this stuff! I finally got the bed fixed...took me a while. repeater and redstone torches are temps..rushed them in... but I kinda like them lol if only I could get them to not be an x. I'm really happy with the way the furnace and dispenser turned out...still need to clean them up a bit... took me a lot of work on those.
so...got a few minor things accomplished..like the redstone wire... was determined to make a pic of red led rope light work... think I finally hashed it out.. untested as of yet. decided that my stone just wasn't working...and too complicated to get the ore into properly so I changed it...and like the new one waaaay better...matches much much better. got bored earlier and did some sight seeing on my server... damn you Scuttles...lol posting a couple shots I got of my textures in action and the new stone and gold ore(only one I finished tonight) I think it's more one with the stone...need feedback before I use the same method on the others.
here's the major update
and some random shots(using Scuttles' custom water/lava and probably will until I get around to mine...or not.. they are so well done :tongue.gif:)
really wish the snowy dirt would go to the dirt under it... I like it and don't want to have to dump it :sad.gif:
this one is my friends house on my server...was on top of a mountain until he gave himself 200 dynamite..fun with op status whoo! lol adding it to show how the wood looks on a building. looks good on the fences..noticed that from my other post..hadnt even looked at it until then.
more one with the stone yet still pop out...which is what I was going for..I'm sure I'll tweak them more later... but for now I'm happy with them
EDIT: I totally just switched the screenshot...after looking at them I realized the redstone looked like jelly on a rock...and decided to tone down the diamond and lapis...the iron is staying a big garish chunk.. if you have ever seen a lump of pure iron...thats it
I've used that torch fire before.... Where is it from.. :/
Nice pack though, Is the ore yours or is it someone else's (maybe you edited, Idk.)
I would love to use it :biggrin.gif:

grumble grumble grumble.... where's my alt bed at? lol
so..getting a good look at things from posting the test track screen... the most work atm needs to go into the sugarcane, cactus and red flower(cleaning up,lining up,sizing) taking a break to actually play and get some work done on my build server today. I also need to fix a minor lining up problem with the redstone wire when it's going all 4 directions and find replacements for the repeaters. hopefully I will get them done and have a new link posted tomorrow.
wow...over 700 views since I posted this as a release and not even a "your pack sucks" comment or anything... need some feedback y'all or it won't improve much
after playing with it for a while...large structures with this glass SUCKS... changing it.. will release it later as an alternate for stained glass.(that's what I designed it for anyway...looks good with that)

(should be down to only LB stuff(items and whatnot) but I'll leave these up to advertize great packs)
