Why do HD texture packs need a 3rd party program to patch them.. And can someone else do it for me, then send it back after it's patched? And does MCPatcher work if i just run the MCPatcher.jar without administrator rights? I want to fix the Photo-Realism texture pack, but i can't use MCPatcher right.. (it says the .jar is wrong.. even though i tried re-downloading the bin from minecaft.net, The buttons on the bottom aren't shaded.. things like that) I just want my texture pack fixed, but learning on the way wouldn't be too bad.
And can someone else do it for me, then send it back after it's patched? .
It's illegal, no one will help you with that sorry....
No i don't mean send me the minecraft.jar.. i mean i need a pre-patched texture pack (the one in the .zip) Sent to me, or the class files or whatever parts of the minecraft.jar are needed to patch the texture pack..

try the following:
a. Do a clean install of the game (go to your bin folder and delete a file called "version", then run the game once).
b. Be sure to have the default texture pack selected in the ingame texture selector.
then:
1. Download and extract the photorealism pack in a folder.
2. Take all the files inside that folder, and put them inside your minecraft.jar archive (use a program like winrar, winzip or 7zip)
3. Run the patcher, have all boxes ticked. Do not designate a path to a minecraft texture. Then click test minecraft.
Hope that helps, cheers...^^
Still doesn't work.. prob cause i'm not an admin on this computer.. So i can't have someone else do it for me? I don't know why they can't patch it while it's in the .zip folder, then send it back.. Or just take from the minecraft.jar the files to which are affected by the patcher..
minecraft.jar is what's patched; not the texture pack. the only part the texture pack plays is offering the images. it's illegal to distribute minecraft.jar in whole or in part. no one's going to give you a prepatched minecraft.jar.
i'm not sure what your problem is. try running on administrator.

do you know how to get to the Netherlands other than a portal
You said you "think" it's because you aren't running as an admin. You would "know" this because it would tell you that you can't run it. So were you able to run MCpatcher?
From your first post, I'd say yes, you can run it. Then the problem is either how you are patching it, where you out the pack, and/or anything else you did in the process. I've never heard of it saying "the jar is wrong" before. What was the real error?

lol that doesnt fix it...you gave up most of the detail doing that lol. Your better off using a pack that was created for 16x16 DEFAULT resolution then just shrinking a HD one b/c they tend to look like a mess when there just shrunk instead of created for a specific lower resolution.

Ask the owner of the computer to run it for you or stop playing Minecraft at work.
